Starting today, September 10, 2009 through September 13, 2009 St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church of Toms River, NJ will host their 34th annual Greek Festival.
This year's will be biggest and best ever with new Greek menu items, new amusement rides for young and old, skill games, dancing, music, our famous Greek Pastries and "must see" performances by the award winning GOYA Dance troop.
The opening and closing times are as follows:
Thursday - 5:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Friday - 11:00 A.M. - 11:00 P.M.
Saturday - 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 Midnight
Sunday - 11:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
The festival will be held at the St. Barbara Community Center and Church Grounds located at 2200 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.
Parking will be on the premises with our regular parking lot and "over-flow" parking at Ocean County College Lot #2 (across the street from the church grounds) with continuous "door to door" Shuttle Bus Service.
There is a small $2.00 donation at the entrance with so much to enjoy for free or very nominal cost.
Come hungry... since the food is the main attraction!
Traditional Greek entrées in the "Athenian Atrium", Greek fast food favorites (gyros, suvlaki/shish-ka-bob) under the Big Top tent, home-made Greek Pastries, Taverna Bar with our Celebrity Bartenders, New Jersey's Disc Jockey, DJ Jimmy of JTK Entertainment, will be playing non-stop Greek dance favorites, European-style street vendor shopping, and continuous, spontaneous Fun!
The Greek motto is: "Eat, Drink, Dance and Enjoy"!

Today is International Homeless Animals' Day.
In 1992, International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) introduced International Homeless Animals' Day as an innovative educational vehicle with a purpose of informing society of an American tragedy that overwhelms animal shelters each year - pet overpopulation.
Since the conception of International Homeless Animals' Day, ISAR has reserved the third Saturday of August, commemorating the Day annually, to promote new campaigns, programs, and ideas on the solution to the pet overpopulation epidemic: spay/neuter.
In 2008, for the 17th consecutive year, ISAR assisted animal rights/welfare organizations in 26 states and 9 foreign countries in making their International Homeless Animals' Day events a success.
Any animal organizations and interested individuals who wish to assist ISAR in enlightening others about the pet overpopulation epidemic and increase spay/neuter awareness by joining us in commemorating our 18th annual observance on August 15, 2009.
