Oh my...more pics from Northwest Park

Northwest Park in Manchester Connnecticut was where this year's Manchester Relay for Life was held. Northwest Park is a hidden gem in Manchester. Located on Tolland Turnpike, it is the home to the Manchester Silkworms, a boundless playground, and the Children's Butterfly Garden. There is also a great pavillion to rent for your next outside activity. Manchester's Relay for Life was held on June 6-7, where many teams walked during the 24 hour event. Many schools in district as well as individual teams, like mine walked and raised money for the American Cancer Society. This event happened because of the many dedicated volunteers. Relay for Life-Manchester Connecticut

June 6-7th was Manchester Connecticut's Relay for Life. This was a very special and hard relay for me and my family. Our team HADDUDES would be walking in memory of my son Jonathan who died in November from leukemia at the age of 21. It was a very inspiring event thanks to the many family members, his friends, and my collegues who supported our team. We had over 50 membersa and Jonathan had over 130 luminaries on the course in his memory. People told me that they have never had so many luminaries for one person in the 6th years that the Relay has been held in Manchester. It was a cold day for June but I was constantly warmed by his many friends that came by to walk. My 2 sisters, my son, and I even took a tethered hot air balloon ride! I know that he was smiling ear to ear at the turn out of family and friends. It was a awesome event for me, filled with such great support from so many people, some I never knew. We all had one thing in common...cancer has affected our lives. His strength during his illness helps all of us remain strong today and everyday. Remember, Celebrate, and Fight Back!
