Hi everyone, it has been a slow, dificult year but I am still here. I feel there is a change in the market just like there was in the seasons. In the last couple of weeks we have received more inquiries and potential buyers than in all of the first quarter this year. Summer is coming and so are the prospects.

I have lived in or near Florence off and on my whole life. I love the way the air is lighter, fresher due to all of the trees and of course the clean air coming in off the Pacific Ocean. Spring is so nice here. We continually have more people coming through and playing on the dunes, walking on the beach, and on the Bayfront. The flowers are all starting to bloom and in about a month(5/13-17/09) we will have the 102nd Rhododendron Festival which will bring 10's of thousands more! Anyone who is interested in knowing more about these coming events can either email me or check out the Florence Chamber of Commerce web site at www.florencechamber.com . It is an amazing time around here with all of the Harley Davidson motor cycles (and other kinds), the independent stands lined up on Hwy 101 and down to Bay Steet selling t-shirts, belts, wallets, tapestries, and all kinds of novelty items.The Davis Carnival will be set up in the Marina parking lot. We will have car shows, a 5k&10k run, boat show and 2 parades1 for the kids on Saturday and 1 for everyone on - Sunday. The greatest concert will be at the Three River's Casino Friday and Saturday nights - JOURNEY!! I saw them in Oklahoma City and they were awesome. Don't miss the fun. Plan your trip now, even though you will have to bring a tent or something to sleep in because all of the motels are booked solid. Take it from me, I work in a motel and we are receiving calls every day for reservations. We are only taking names so if we have any cancellations then we can call someone on our list.
Oh yea, and we had hail this morning. If you remember last year, we had snow on May 1st. Of course it was all melted in to the ground as soon as it landed but it just goes to show you we can't predict the weather. Even the meteorologists can't be right all of the time. As for here in Florence if you say it could rain today, you're right, the sun could shine, yes and it could hail, but don't break your plans just because there is a small chance of some eratic weather. If you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes, it will change. I know that this is an old saying but if you are talking about the Oregon Coast, it is probably true. Hi everyone, I have worked most of my scheduled days and a few hours here and there in the real estate office. I m very tired today but I do feel lot better.
The gas prices are climbing again., but so is the temperature, it was about 70 degrees here yesterday. I think that is only in the sun with a wind block but what do I know? The good news is how beautiful it is here on the central Oregon coast right now. It smells like spring with all of the fragrant flowers and plants blooming all over town.
Pretty soon we will have mushroom pickers from all over the place coming to pick Matzutaki Pines (spelling?) which is the highest priced paid mushrooms we have around here. In the peak of the season some buyers may pay up to $100/lb. Of course that never lasts long because then there will be an over abundance of them and the price will drop. Some people pay $400+ just for the permit which is given thru a computerized list and selected applicants will actually get a permit where as others are denied. If you are caught picking without a permit you could get a steep fine.
There are quite a few other mushrooms that are picked around here; Chanterelles, lobsters, Chicken of the Woods, Cauliflour, and King Beleteus to name a few.
So, all you mushroom pickers be careful out there and be sure to get a permit for whatever kind of fungus or plant you are trying to harvest.
