Beaufort, South Carolina is ranked number 14 in the top 25 small city arts destinations according to American Style's cover story of "National Treasures: Top 25 Cities for Art."
John Villani, author of The 100 Best Art Towns in America stated, "In Beaufort, what you have is a very accessible, easily walkable, small-scale downtown that's loaded with great art and a range of diversely programmed art galleries...for the size of the town, the concentration of galleries here is phenomenal. It's block for block, one of the densest concentrations of galleries I've ever seen."

In every state of the union address the president always tries to work in the phrase "The state of our union is strong" or "remains strong" or something to that effect. The same goes for the state of the state address where the governors try to give the same type of appearance that our individual states are strong and healthy. And I suppose one could assume that if you travel further down the chain of command to our communities, our mayors give the same type of overture that our cities and towns are strong.
Now I'm hearing the same thing from the National Association of Realtors, except for the caveat that all real estate markets are local and one should learn about conditions specific to that area.
In 2007 there were more than 5.6 million homes sold nationwide, which was the fifth best year on record. The national home ownership rate is currently at 67.8%, which was down only 1.4% from the high of 2004. But get this... in South Carolina the home ownership rate was 4.4% above the national average. That's right, home ownership is 72.2%.
The outlook of purchasing a home in South Carolina is pretty darn good (Ahem), I mean STRONG!
Check out the National Association of Realtors website and see the housing market facts that are available. There you will find many answers to the questions you may concerning the real estate market.
