Anchorage Housing Market Update

What is the housing market like in Alaska? I get many of these questions from fellow REaltors from other parts of the country. Well, I have to say, we don't have too much to complain about here. It's a known fact that the housing market is as strong as the economy of a region.

In Anchorage, Alaska many of our jobs are oil based. Although oil production has declined, our eceonmy is still relatively strong. The economy in Anchorage, Alaska is also based on tourism, seafood, and the service sector. Here are some market statistics from June 20, 2009 to June 26, 2009:
