3. Current interest rates are about 5%.
4. Average interest rate 2000-2008 was 6.4%

Buyers are currently getting more house for less cost and lower monthly payments!! The current market is very competitive for sellers, but homes are selling and we are seeing an increase in real estate activity as the new year rolls along.

In the midst of all of the negative news in the media, locally we are seeing increased buyer activity and sales increase monthly. Movement of interest rates is upward. It is currently an incredible buyer's market. Are prices at rock bottom? Unfortunately, no one has an accurate crystal ball. But what will be the cost of waiting? Rebounding prices and higher interest rates?

Real estate remains a good investment for the long term. During the recent (few) years of crazy appreciations in our home values, we forgot that real estate is not a short term investment.
