Fried Ice Cream in Brentwood TN? ~ Amazing!

Brentwood TN Real Estate

Ever had fried ice cream at a fancy Mexican Resteraunt in Brentwood TN (or anywhere else) and thought, "wow I sure would like to have that at
home"? Well it is easier than you think. It is time consuming only in the
repetitive freezing step, but it is easy and tastes awesome! Your family and friends will think you are "it" when you bring this one out!

1 pint ice cream(vanilla works best, but have used choc too)

2 cups crushed corn flakes(cookie crumbs are really good too, especially oreos)

1cup crushed nuts(I used cashews, but any that you like is good)

1tsp cinnamon

2tsp sugar

2eggs

3Tbl milk/cream ( I like the richness of using cream)

fresh oil for deep frying

honey

whipped cream

Carmel topping

scoop out 1 ball ice cream per person being served, place in glass dish or wrap in wax paper and use plastic dish, return to freezer until firm(firm means enough to handle for a couple minutes without melting). Mix crumbs, cinnamon, sugar and nuts. Roll ice cream ball in mixture and return to freezer until firm. Dip in egg/cream mixture, roll in crumb/nut mixture again, freeze until firm For thicker coating, repeat as many times as desired. Keep frozen until ready to fry. heat oil to 350 degrees place frozen ice cream balls in deep fryer one at a time cook for 1 - 3 mins(do not over cook) remove and place on fresh sopapilla, sprinkle with powdered sugar or honey. Drizzle carmel on top, add whipped cream, a cherry and voila~

This is the perfect end to posole, chile verde or even tacos!

Ole!!

Peek -A- Boo! Or, How to hide that ugly wood paneling !

Brentwood TN Real Estate

You hate the old paneling in your home, and it's to expensive to replace it, but you can't stand living with it any longer. In fact it's so bad that it depresses you, and you've actually thought about selling the house just to get away from it, but fear that nobody else wants it either. Many of the older homes in Brentwood and Franklin TN have these same wood paneled walls, dens, or living rooms. Don't despair you're not alone with that ugly paneling; there are a million others that live with it too. There are a few repair tricks that you can do that will get rid of the paneling in your home. Take the time to learn about some steps to solve your paneling dilemma, freeing you up to stay or sell as YOU choose!

Below you will find a few ideas you can use to brighten up your 70's paneling situation. Be prepared for some elbow grease, but it'll be better than looking at the paneling.

  • Paint the Paneling. The number one rule to remember with painting paneling is that you just can't slap some paint on it and expect it to look professional. It will look tacky if you do. Paint will run and paneling will show through as it absorbs the paint which could also cause yellow streaks to run in the paint. Surface preparation is the key to all of the paneling in your house. Begin with a good cleaner that will degrease the muck and build-up on the paneling. You'll need a gloss remover after you apply the de-greasing solution to the paneling. Never apply the gloss remover over large areas. Rub the area in the direction of the wood grain over smaller sections. Let set for about 30 min. and then apply the primer. Don't try to remove the gloss remover. This will need to stay on. Next apply the primer over frame areas and baseboards. If the wood paneling is showing through after the first coat, let it dry, and go back over it with a second coat. If you don't it will come through your regular paint, and your effort is wasted. Keep applying the gloss remover over small sections and priming until you're finished. Let it dry over night and then add the caulking in the unsightly grooves of the paneling. Remove excess with a putty knife. Let dry completely over night. You're then ready to start painting your first coat of paint. Let dry according to directions and then put a second coat on.

  • Paint the Wallpaper. In some of the nicer wallpaper stores you can find wallpaper that can be painted. This will give the appearance of a painted wall. It's a wonderful idea to be able to pick what color you want and get rid of that dingy awful looking wood paneling. You can add other colors to give it a 3-D effect too. First clean with a good de-greaser and let dry. After drying go in and fill in each groove with a caulk to get rid of wall paneling ridges. Clean excess caulk with a putty knife and dispose of. It's necessary to do this because your lining and wall paper will not have a firm surface to stick too. Next buy a good primer at your local hardware store, and prime all of the paneling. An extra step is needed when papering your walls by applying and sizing to them. It's sticky and will keep the wall paper sticking to the paneling. Hang your wallpaper according to directions. You'll need to soak the paper in water, and then hang after a few minutes. You're ready then to paint your wallpaper with your favorite color or colors. Take note of special instructions for painting wallpaper from the paint manufacturer.

  • Glaze the Paneling. You can add a nice shine to your paneling too by glazing it. First clean the paneling with a de-greaser. Next add a color that you like and paint it. Let it dry overnight. Secondly mix a satiny top color with a glaze in the correct proportions. Read instructions with your paints for a correct mixture. Paint over small sections of the paneling, preferably one or two sections at a time. Depending on how much shine you want wipe off excess glaze with a clean rag. When done always clean your brush with mineral oil, and let dry over night before storing them for future projects.

Hello updated beauty, goodbye paneled nightmare!

Decide which option is best, read the directions,
be thorough and change your home from a don't to a SOLD!

What You Need to Know When Installing an Antenna or Satellite Dish!

Brentwood TN Real Estate

Antennas & satellite dishes can be great ways to connect your television or other equipment. When you invest in a dish or antenna, you will have more choices for your home entertainment. Dishes & antennas can pick up miles worth of reception from television stations and radio. By installing your own antenna or satellite dish, you may be able to save money. Also, in certain areas of Franklin, Brentwood or Williamson County cable is not readily available & a dish is your best option.

Before deciding to install an antenna or satellite dish on your roof, there are things to consider. It will make it easier without as many complications caused later on. If you follow the directions when placing an antenna or satellite dish on your roof, you should be able to enjoy the use of this technology without going through re-installation . When you install an antenna or dish yourself, you can save money & it won't take more than a couple of hours. Be sure to install your new equipment correctly.

1. Installation site. Whether it is an antenna or satellite dish that you are installing, it is important to have a clear path for the dish to receive information. There has to be a clear line of sight between satellites with the entire surface of the dish. The line of site for either the dish or antenna shouldn't be caught in the line of trees, roof tiles, etc. when you place it on your roof.

2. Finding the right place. It is important to keep in mind that with either a dish or an antenna, it is best to put it in a place that not only is clear from any electrical lines, but also allows easy access. By doing this, you will be able to repair or monitor your satellite dish or antenna much easier. If you have to put the dish or antenna on your roof, it is always best to find a place where it isn't going to cause damage to the roof, creating leaks.

3. Have the right equipment. There are usually three parts that you have to connect in order to get the antenna or satellite dish to work correctly. This includes the dish or antenna, a coax cable that connects the dish to the television and a receiver that plugs directly into your television. When connecting, make sure that the dish or antenna is the shortest distance from where your television is. It is also important to measure the length of the cable in order to determine whether it will reach the dish or antenna from the inside of your home. If needed, you can connect a cable snake to route from further areas. Other types of equipment which you may need include; a drill in order to mount the satellite or antenna, as well as screws for the dish or antenna.

4. Know which way to point your dish. If you point the dish or antenna in the wrong direction, you won't be able to receive anything. Usually, dishes should be pointed at an angle of twenty-five to fifty degrees. You can find this with the compass usually included in the kit that comes with your dish.

 5. Safety always comes first. When going on your roof to install your antenna or satellite(or for any reason), remember to think of what you need to do in order to prevent yourself from falling. It is best not to be up on your roof if the weather has been cold or if it has been raining. Make sure that the ladder you have is sturdy and that the legs are planted firmly the correct distance apart. It is best to have someone hold the ladder for you. Another consideration is to make sure that your shoes have good traction in order to prevent you from slipping while installing the satellite or antenna. ALWAYS have someone in shouting distance, in case of accident!

When installing an antenna or satellite dish, there are several things to think through before hand. By knowing the equipment that you need before you go onto your roof, as well as planning out how the dish or antenna will connect to your television, you will save hours of repair or work. By understanding how the dish or antenna will work in relation to your home or television, you will only have to install the equipment once, allowing for an easy installation and quick success.

Be careful, think it out, plan it out and then knock it out!
