Reddings resident Eagles have hatched two of the three eggs that were laid this winter. Our eagles, Patiot and Liberty, became celebrities when CalTrans tried to move their nest in 2007 by putting a giant cone over it.
Public outcry saved the nest and we now have our Live Eagle Cam to watch during Daylight hours.
Eagle One, which was laid on February 6th, hatched on March 17th
Eagle Two, which was laid on February 9th, hatched today March 19th.
The third egg was laid on February 13th is still being incubated by the eagles. Watch when mom and dad take off out of the nest - they curl their talons under so as not to damage the egg.
Expect lots of activity now that the babies have been born.
I'll be going by and getting some pictures tomorrow morning. I just love it when I drive by there and the eagles fly over, it's so majestic.

Spring Break will be upon us before we know it. Here in Redding, most schools take Spring Break from April 13th to the 17th.
I thought I'd take some time to find out activities for the kids during break. Here goes:
Spring Break Activities include a 5 day camp for 6 - 12 year olds at the Enterprise Community Room. There is also a Little Bunnies Workshop and plenty of sports activities planned for the kids.
Whiskey Town Enviornmental Camp (AKA WES Camp) is offering a Spring Break in the Wild Camp. Four and Five day camps are availble.
What a great opportunity to enjoy Whiskeytown Park.

I've been spending some time researching Summer Camps for my kids this summer. It's very time consuming. Here's a list of what I've found so far. I'll be adding to it as we get closer to summer.
Happy Camping:
Kids Unlimted Summer Show Chior: Kids unlimited has been putting on Summer Show Camps for more than 20 years now. This six week camp builds self confidence, team work and just plain fun for the kids involved. Registration is limited to only 200 kids. Scholarships are available. Registration is going on now.
Redding Recreation Center: Lots of summer camps here including Beach Buddies, Musical Theatre, Jump Roping and more.
Cypress Elementary Summer Day Camp: (opens up as a PDF file) Not sure if this is limited to Cypress Elementary School Students or not.
The Academy Of Performing Arts: Open to all Shasta County 4th through 12th graders.
WhiskeyTown Enviornmental Camp: This famed nature program has a summer program too. Check it out.
Schrader Planetarium: No details yet but here's the website link - keep checking back on this one
Haven Humane - Camp Love a Pet: This awesome camp is dedicated to teaching kids how to properly care and build relationships with animals.
Shasta Wake Board Camps: Designed for kids and teenagers looking to have a good time while learning wakeboarding!

I had no idea that this guide is online. What a great way to connect with the community.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Real Estate doesn't come back? What if housing stays upside down for a prolonged period of time?
Depending on which report that you read, it's estimated that anywhere fom 1 in 5 to 1 in 8 homeowners have mortgages larger than the the value of the home. All of us know that someday Real Estte will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. Buyers will move back into the market, foreclosures will mostly be a thing of the past, lending will stabilize and the market will normalize.
It is entirely feasible that millions of Americans who bought homes in 2005 and 2006 and even into 2007 may never re-coop the value. Many of these homeowners are upside down, even if they took out an 80/20 loan.
It took ten years for the market to reach it's it's height in 2006. It's taken less than 2 years for prices to fall back to 2001 levels, 
The bull market started in 1997 and ended in 2006. Assuming that prices will fall to historical norms, It is entirely possible that housing will fall back to 1998 - 1999 levels and then maintain a more normal appreciation. If this happens, people who bought homes in 2005 - 2007 could wait 10 years for the market to catch up to what they paid for it.
Some homeowners may be stuck in a negative equity position for an extended period of time, unable to sell or refinance. What are the options?
1. Walk away today, take the loss in a short sale and lose any opportunity to re-coop. This would be a loss of real wealth could be impossible for many to recover from.
2. Stay the course and pay the loan and wait for the market to catch up. This will work as long as life doesn't get in the way and they never have to relocate.
There is a 3rd option. For homeowners who want to keep their homes and put themselves back into a positive equity position, accelerating the payoff of the mortgage is a viable solution.
Two potential options are the Money Merge Account from United First Financial and Financial Destination Inc's Equity Trax. Both products will work within the existing cash flow to accelerate the payoff of the debt and put you back into a equity position sooner rather than later.
