WE HAVE BLOWN PAST THE 100 INCH MARK!
As of President's Day Monday February 18th the White Mountains has had 106.8 inches of snow. Just short of the 114.6 record set in 1977-1978 and the all time record of 160 inches 1968-1969.
What might be great for the skiers has been hard on the fuel bills and local roofs! Two local Inns and a warehouse have had roofs collapse under the weight of all this snow.
The 30 year average snow fall for the Mount Washington Valley is 83.1 inches per year.
The Jackson Snow Sculpture Annual Event is great family fun!
This year was no exception!
Lots of great carvings and DOG SLED RIDES!!!!
Here are the stars of the show...... The Dogs!
Well, if snow were Buyers this would be the best real estate market in years.
But sales still lag behind past expectations as Buyers sit on the sidelines, concerned with falling prices and fears of an overall recession.
One bright spot is Bretton Woods!
Bretton Woods has benefited by a three year expansion of the Mountain, making it the Largest ski area in NH. Along with the trail expansion the mountain's developer has committed to an aggressive Condo, Single Family Home and Village District development plan.
If you are considering an upscale ski property in the next few years contact Stefan Karnopp 603-986-8323. He is the Black Bear Realty expert in Bretton Woods Real Estate and can guide you through the process.
White Mountain Market Update
2007 was a challenging real estate market. Year to year property sales in the area were down approximately 21%, while prices dropped on average only between 2-3%. Single Family & Vacation Homes took the largest hit on prices, while Upscale Retirement Properties held their own. Condominium unit sales dropped off across the board, with the only demand being at the very high-end and low-end. We are forecasting 2008 will see another 2-3% decrease in prices, accompanied by an increase in units sold by the Summer.
