“Adopt A Spot” In Your Waterbury CT Area Community

 

It’s a great way to enhance your neighborhood, meet your neighbors and positively impact the city or town where you live.

 

Last weekend, on September 5, 2009, Victor Diaz hosted a Neighborhood Cookout at his “Adopt- A-Spot” location, the island at Cooke, Moran, and Collins Street , in the Upper   Fulton   Park neighborhood. It was a wonderful day to meet our neighbors, discuss common neighborhood concerns and enjoy a good time at a truly beautiful spot in our city.

 

Some of the more familiar faces in the neighborhood were there at the “Adopt-A-Spot” Neighborhood Cookout. Our regular postman, Charlie, was there, as well as the firefighters from the Lakewood Firehouse, the fire station closest to our neighborhood.

 

There are over 40 “Adopt-A-Spot” locations all over Waterbury . This is according to Mayor Michael, Jarjura, who was also at the cookout, along with Steven Conway, our city Sheriff, and several of the sitting and aspiring members of the Board of Aldermen .

 

The “Adopt-A-Spot” program allows area residents to provide landscaping services to a location of their choice. Citizens who participate in the “Adopt-A-Spot” program plant flowers and shrubbery in those areas, along with maintenance and upkeep of the sites they choose. The “Adopt-A-Spot” program is an excellent way for citizens to get involved in their local communities, which promotes civic participation and helps to beautify the city .
