Feng Shui Your Office or Home : Part I

Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the art of living in harmony with your physical surroundings. An ancient Chinese philosophy, the term "feng shui" means "wind and water". The original idea in ancient China was that it was nice to live in a house with hills behind you to shield you from wind, and with a stream or some sort of running water in front of your house. The Chinese felt that people who lived with "feng shui" were much more likely to be happy and prosperous.

According to peterpauper.com, The Chinese symbols representing the words feng shui mean "wind" and "water."This Chinese art has been practiced for at least five thousand years. Its purpose is to create harmony in every aspect of life. The purpose of people conducting feng shui practices is to create a positive energy and balance in the person's life. The first thing you should do before thinking of arranging or adding items to the home is to first clear out space. In other words, remove all clutter. According to peterpauper, clutter clearing is a mental exercise in letting go of objects and allowing life to give you what you need, rather than holding on to things that yo have already outgrown.

Next move on to cleaing, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Clean all surgaces, ensuring that objects, littler, and grime are removed.Open the windows. One of the purposes of feng shui is to create a healthy space. Incense and incense holders can be helpful in clearing bad energy. Choose an aroma that suits your spirit. Ideally incense should be used when you are alone. The following aromas should be considered:

Courage: allspice, rosemary, musk

Good Luck: cedar, mint, nutmeg

Inspiration: hazel

Love: gardenia, vanilla, jasmine, lavender

Cleansing: frankincense, peppermint, myrrh

WillPower: St. John's Wort, rosemary

Consecration: carnation, rue

Consider colors for your room and energy enhancers such as crystals and water. Water can be a mood and energy booster. It signifies health & give nurtuance to life. It helps grows things. So, the little I read suggest placing water in containers in the southeast corner of your room to increase your wealth. To improve study habits and education place the water in the northeast. For good health, place water in the east and center. Crystals are said to help focus energy especially when used in conjunction with water. Avoid too many crystals together. When using crystals for health, choose raw or rough rock crystals. Try other crystals such as Amethyst, Jade, Rose quartz, and Clear quartz for healing, protection, transforming negative energy into positve, etc.

It's Great to be among people that are where you want to be"

If you could not tell by the title, I am doing an inspriational segment. I am a striving entrepreneur that is struggling to climb up the upward ladder to financial security and business success. And what I am doing while I am on the road there not so much intentionally but looks like by divine intervention is surrounding myself with people that are soaring and have already established their name in real estate, beauty care, etc. I would love to surround myself even more with people in my office like Paul Powell, Holly Milstead, Linda Grossman, and Connie Goodrich. They are very inspiring. Hopefully, I will catch hold to their spirit and perhaps drive for ulitmate perfection and high achievement very very soon! Also, I think mentoring is helpful in the field of real estate and perhaps frequenting more KW Family Reunions may help in my desire to be the best!

STRESS

Every now and then, I find a good article that I want to share. This article, as noted in the Title is about Stress. I thought I would share it. I got it from my UnitedHealthcare magazine. I don't think they will mind me sharing it.

Stress and back pain: What's the connection?

We all have stress from everyday life, and it's not always harmful. It can give us a burst of energy or help us focus on important tasks. But, poorly managed stress can cause problems such as back pain.

"When you're tense, anxious, fearful or angry, your back, shoulder and neck muscles contract," says Norman Marcus, M.D., director of muscle pain research at the NYU School of Medicine. Eventually, that can lead to pain severe enough to affect daily activities.

You can't escape stress as easily as you can avoid other back pain risks, such as heavy lifting. But, there are steps you can take to help cope with - or avoid - the pain.

Move away from pain
One strategy for relieving stress and back pain is regular exercise. Check with your doctor first, and then try activities that make you break a sweat. Exercise - such as jogging, swimming and bicycling - can release muscular tension and lower your stress level.

Eating right (see the sidebar "Avoid the pitfalls of stress") and regularly getting enough sleep can help reduce stress and may help to prevent back problems, too.

If you have to sit for long periods, keep your head and shoulders erect. Also, take breaks by standing, moving around and stretching. Your workstation should be comfortable. Make sure your chair supports your lower back and that your working surface is at the proper height so you don't have to lean forward.

Remember to take time for yourself as much as possible. Read a good book, listen to your favorite music or watch a funny show - laughter can be good medicine.

Be kind to your back
Back pain also can come from muscle strain or a variety of other disorders. Discover more at myuhc.com. Click "Health & Wellness," then "Conditions AtoZ." Choose a topic under "Back Pain."

Growing Your Business: Working With Family

I was reading one marketing tip to not work with family. Grant it, when I was first started working in real estate most of my business came from fami;y or through a family member's referral. And I am thankful for that. However, when it comes to providing service to a family member I think it is a case by case situation. Unfortunately, there are a couple of family members that I will never work with again. Simply because neither one would listen to my advice or consider my input. They were so bull headed and driven to their own perspective and focused on what a realtor does and does not do that I was just so glad when it was all over with. Next time, I will just refer them to someone else. On the other hand, I have worked with four other family members such as an auntie, older sister, her mother in law, & a cousin that the relationship worked well. And because of them being willing to listen and hear my ideas -- I was more driven to work hard for them.
