Sometimes you come across really good people, in real estate, in your community, in life, or others sharing a story of what they are doing to make the world just a little better place. To lift up the struggling, to give dignity to someone, to spread some cheer in the world. In this story found on YouTube, Baxter the dog helps the dying with a little loving in their final weeks, days, or hours. If we are so lucky to live to ripe old ages in our 80's or 90's, we should all have a Baxter along to say our goodbyes with. I think all nursing homes and hospitals around the country should adopt these kind of fine animals into their routine care. As you watch the video it sure makes you feel good. Enjoy.
In addition to being sixth grade class spelling champion in my life I prided myself with language skills after college of playing a Word of the Day game. This is where I would learn a new vocabulary word each day and study it. It made me think in business and personal life to
Beware Of The Jokers In Your Life.
The root word that goes along with this thought is, ingenuous, which means naive, that you DON'T know what you are doing. But a Joker person is disingenuous or NOT naive, calculating and deceptive. They are diabolical. Why? They KNOW what they are doing to you.
They are JOKERS!
Think of all the words that spin out of being disingenuous, the very DEFINITION of a JOKER:
Lying, lacking candor, lacking frankness, canny, insincere, crooked, clever, cunning, deceitful, fraudulent, underhanded, shifty, slick, wily, false, two-faced, sly, crazy like a fox to name a few. Amazing how many names we have for this character.
I don't know about you, but I don't have TIME for Jokers in my life. Not only for the damage they do around them by not flying straight, but they irritate me to no end with their games, and they drain my precious energy trying to figure their puzzling selves out. They ARE NOT as they appear. A snake in the grass.
So what is the OPPOSITE of a Joker, a disingenuous person? Well with so many words to describe them, the opposite of them, what we all should be, and want others around us to be:
HONEST.
Identify the Jokers and their behavior right away and if they won't change, distance yourself from them. My suggestion even though Jack Nicholson in Batman as the Joker was cute, you be the one to take the High Road and
If you look in clothing stores or attend some running road races occasionally you will have that rather long torso T shirt for example where they say ONE SIZE FITS ALL. But I think it is rather obvious
In The REAL World One Size Doesn't Fit All.
Take for example in some brokerage firms with training for new agents, they still rely on what are called "scripts and dialogues." A little role play to soften up prospects to get them to talk with you and in particular to handle common objections an agent might encounter. Like if they have no experience, or they really want to sell their home For Sale By Owner and don't see the value of an agent. Scripts can be a foundation for learning but similar to door knocking a neighborhood seem pretty old school to the new Facebook and social conversations crowd. Also buyers and sellers are so unique, each one, we need to not sound canned approaching them, but friendly, helpful, confident and knowledgeable.
Remember there are range of sizes of hats to wear for different heads, different backgrounds everyone comes from and just chill out and be a person first and not a robot.
So you find yourself searching for houses on the Internet. You call some agent's names off signs in front of houses. You think you are a junior real estate agent. This stuff isn't hard. Print out a few pre-printed contract forms, do your own negotiation. What could go wrong? You should know there are
Reasons To Sign Up With A Buyers Agent.
First off they know their stuff. Do you know if you are not represented you are called a Customer? Basically with not many specific services assigned to you by ANY agent. Yet with representation, you move to the highly prized CLIENT category with a lot of "good stuff" you now get. Some reasons to use a buyers agent:
A Buyer's Representation Agreement is a SMART idea for any buyer to get the full and necessary services of a professional in this industry.
Who can't use a stress reducing technique nowadays? We need to
Chill Out With The Mullet Wrapper Concept of Perspective.
Where I grew up in East Central Florida near the Indian and Banana Rivers these fish would just jump out of the water all the time and plop back in. Almost like it was fun for them. They were Mullet.
A regular newspaper opinion columnist Bob Hudson humorously titled his column, The Mullet Wrapper. A takeoff on what happens to today's newspaper, it becomes "Yesterday's News" and hence something you can wrap fish in.
Perspective is a key way to handle the stress of today's news, crises, problems, daily aggravations, etc. All things that bother you severely in the present. Think of these mullet wrapper thoughts with today's news and problems making it yesterday's news and fit for wrapping your fresh fish for tonight's dinner.
So when you are reading today's news, seeing that gossip story about someone, living right in the middle of a crisis, or your problems are like alligators taking over the swamp, think PERSPECTIVE.
It will blow over. If you think that today you will be much more at peace when you are right in the middle of the storm.
