Why Some People Won't Listen To You No Matter What

As I think I have grown somewhat wiser with age, I have stopped "mainly" trying to push boulders up steep hills. Predominantly cause I get tired of them rolling back over me. Namely, quit trying to fight reality. There's a great expression that when you get your own planet then the rules that you see fit for the world to operate will apply. But until such time you're living on this planet where someone else made up the rules.

Big EgoI have observed that beyond just poor listening skills there is a reason

Why Some People Won't Listen To You No Matter What.

They have egos the size of the Grand Canyon. They are full of themselves. It is complete pompousness on their part. They are God's gift to the world. There are men like this. There are women like this. And what about you? How do you relate in your communicatiion with them?

You are just one of the little people. You will have to wait your turn to get a word in edgewise if at all. And them listening to you? Good luck with that.

Post It Note BoardYou see it among REALTORS, sales people, bloggers, pretty much any walk of life. Many messages out there. One person's voice is not more important than another's. But with the self promotion at such high levels you'd think it was the land of the kings and the peasants. There are power structures in life for sure. My point on the communication side, is if you are not getting through to the blow bags, just remember it is THEM, not YOU.

Blow Fish

Check yourself in the mirror today.

Make sure YOU are not turning into one of these Blow Fish types. So much noise, so much clamor, yet oftentimes

....so little real substance inside.

We all know what's inside.

Don't Be A Run Around Sue (or Sam)

Sue LadyWe all need to know that we

Don't Want To Be A Run Around Sue.

(or Sam)

No, I am not talking about women agents strolling out by the street corner supplementing their real estate income with the world's oldest profession. I am talking about Mapping.

Mapping you say? Planning our routes for showing homes to our buyers. Many zig zag all over the place without a forethought. So inefficient with time and the expense of gas. They need to have a radius of their market area and not exceed that if that is their business model. Use Google maps and print out efficient maps ahead of time and plan the routes. Some MLS systems have this built in. Or use a handheld or in vehicle GPS tool. A service you also can buy is Dashfly.

So don't be a Run Around Sue, or if you are don't be a Realtor. Realtors are in a different service oriented business.

Give Yourself Permission For A Pause That Refreshes

Need Refresh GuyIf you can start relating to looking like this worn out caricature maybe in your Real Estate life you need to

Give Yourself Permission For A Pause That Refreshes.

I have been seeing the contrast between the work burnout victims dragging big time and those coming back from for example a road trip to the mountains all invigorated. Rest and relaxation is needed by all of us.

Look ahead and put something on the calendar. Thanksgiving week, something around Christmas. Don't think scheduling time with extended family necessarily qualifies as rest. Sometimes that is MORE stress.

But periodic letting your mind and your body wander in different directions definitely recharges your batteries. It is more than all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It is about thriving and not existing. Your inside needs the recharge for the outside to perform its best!!

Are You The Real Deal Or Just Close?

SweetenerAre You The Real Deal Or Just Close?

In our real estate profession and client interactions it is very beneficial to be a person that does what they say they will do. It not only follows the tenet of obedience to a prinicipal it makes you a genuine person.

Genuineness in people seems to be dying out. Too many people wear too many faces depending on whom they are meeting with. If you are the same with everyone it doesn't take near as much energy, and is much more intellectually honest.

Don't ALMOST be sweet as in Splenda. Be sugary sweet to everyone and they know that they will see that side of you ALL the time. Being genuine is a character trait that is much needed in our world. What you see is what you get, is a GOOD THING!!
