The Shakori Hils Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance is coming April 17-20th. The four day event features musical performances on four stages, lots of crafts and food, and camping. Carolina Performing Arts, held at UNC's Memorial Auditorium, has just announced its 2008-2009 season. The series will present 31 programs in 42 performances, its biggest season yet. Series will be offered in dance, classical recital, classical ensemble, world, jazz and others. In addition, a number of special performances will fill the season, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Winton Marsalis, Bela Flek, Alvin Ailey and the New York Philharmonic. I'm excited to report that season tickets have just gone on sale for the new Durham Performing Arts Center. The Center, which will begin offering touring Broadway shows in early 2009, is a new arts venue on the Triangle scene. The Center will offer over 100 events per year, including performing arts, comedy, family shows, and concerts.
