A Halloween Parade and dogs in Del Ray

O.K. I want to start this Blog with a confession. I'll see you later Father Bob. This is a real estate type confession. I did not go to open houses this Sunday. And, not because of the generous margaritas they serve at Los Tios Grill on Mt. Vernon Ave. Today was the Del Ray Halloween parade. With a drum and fife band leading the merry marchers. This year was the largest parade yet. we don't just have the kids we have whole families dressed up. One family were the characters from the wizard of Oz. The Mommy Daddy and child penguin trio all in home made costumes were cute on toast. As were the TeleTubbies, Mom, Dad, and two toddlers. The wee ones stole the show as fairies and tigers, pea pods and one little hot chili pepper. We had variations on a few themes and, it's fun to see how many pumpkins and pirates you can spot. I do believe though I only saw I Albert Einstein. The strollers were not just for tired feet. Not in Del Ray the strollers were were decorated and had their own judging category. First place this year went to the the Emerald city. We do not have a contest for children's costumes as it would be to hard to chose. OF course we do have a dog contest. The winners were 1st.--Red Riding Hood and Grandma, 2 mixed shepherd type dogs. 2nd. Bo Peep and her Sheep the cutest white Labradoodle you have ever seen. Next came a pair of Pembroke Corgis dressed as Tigger and Eeyore and a cutie of a mixed breed dressed as a king being pulled in his castle. Our own Vola Lawson and Adem Ebbin were the pet judges I think they did a fine job. But would have placed Truffles and Amber the Dachshund/ Chihuahua that were dresses as a dragon and a princess in the top 2 places. Our next big get together her in Del Ray is the lighting of the Christmas tree on Dec.1st. Now doesn't Del Ray sound like a nice place to live?

Working with Nova Star

Nova Star Real Estate

Commercial Investment Residential

You Know I could not wait to join this firm. I knew the Principal Broker Donald Brotman from when I took his Real Estate

class. I took a class in real estate finance from him. But my oh my When I see that name spelled out I feel a bit small. Though more known in Fairfax and Loudon the are a well respective firm. Being the Alexandria person is exciting and a

bit intimidating. But, wait a minute I'm here in Del Ray! Where houses can have tourettes, and be painted delphinium blue with kiwi trim. I live and work where our Halloween parade will judge not only the children's costumes but the dogs as well. We have a hair Solon who's cats sleep in the shampoo chairs. The selling of real estate depends on good communities to live and work in and a good company to work with. I have both. So here I am in Del Ray ready to help you sell or buy. Give me a call I'll bring the dog treats. (or kitty treats)

Autunm in Del Ray

Well Art On The Avenue was a great success! Del Ray really comes out for our street festival. As my husband puts it we celebrate our Del Rayness. We have food, art, dogs, crafts, music, Entertainment. The Ballet Studio ( my daughter danced both in tap and jazz.) Irish dancers, kids music, and did I mention the food! Thai,Indian,Maryland crab-cakes, pulled B.B.Q.and more. Mark your calender for next October if you missed it. Our next chance to close Mt. Vernon Avenue will be for Halloween when we have our parade. Complete with costume contest for the kids and you know it! dogs too. One of my favorite was the match set of hula poodles a few years ago. Fall in Del Ray Alexandria is fun! though I fear that the trees on Commonwealth might not be as bright as in the past. What with the lack of rain and all. The tree line on Commonwealth is something to behold in any season. weather full of autumn foliage or heavy with snow.

I will miss watching the gentleman who has his office out side of his office across the street for me. I think it is an architects office. It's on the second floor and they have a deck. Most people would just put out a picnic table. One of them has a desk and chair, brings his lap top. I think he has a lamp for over cast days. I love working and living in DelRay, Alexandria VA.

My first Blog

Here In Del Ray Renovations are or going Strong lots tend to be small and it is not out of the ordinary to find your house on an odd sized lot. Most people go up rather than out. Now, our charm here is partly derived from our wonderful residents, our dogs ( and oh how we love our dogs ) and our architecture. Additions must conform and not be out of character. A turret did make it in. You see we all so like our whimsy.
