Spring fresh ... salt kills

Salt does a lot of good. Salt makes your food taste better. Salt is essential not only to life, but to good health also. But Salt does and will kill if you let it...

The salt I am talking about is road salt.... And it kills your car. I would think that most everybody in Northern Ohio knows this by now . All-though some my not. In the United State The use of road salt (mostly sodium chloride) is a pretty common thing and this is what kills your car...Yes it kills your car...

So you ask what does this have to do with Spring Fresh...Glad you asked. Being a car guy in Northern Ohio I see lots of cars dieing a slow and painful death. And thought I would share some simple tips to help keep your car live a little longer..

We all know changing the oil and filters helps your car. And keeping the interior clean makes for a better smelling and comfortable ride And keeping the car shiny and waxed makes you feel proud to be driving it. But when was the last time you washed the undercarriage? I mean gave it a good bath.

Most rust starts from the bottom up (some coastal areas do rust from top down because of salty air) But we are talking about road salt here for now. And this is something you should be concerned about. It is the most unseen area of your car and the most susceptible to road salt.

Well what can you do to prolong your cars life? 1st and foremost wash it regularly. I know what you are saying... Zane how do you expect me to do that? Well it is easy most modern car washes have undercarriage wash as an opinion. For the few extra dollars for the under wash it will pay you back with years of extended service. I could write a book on the parts under there that are effected by road salt. But that's another story altogether. This should be done in winter months as well but we are talking spring fresh here..

If by chance you have no automatic car washes we have another way of getting under there. Car ramps will help put your car up a little higher for easier access. and with a garden hose you can get most of it clean. Yes it is a bit of work but the alternative is a dead car. The salt will kill your car and if you have a rusty part under there that brakes it could kill you or someone you love...

I like the hand washes best....

This is the other option to automatic undercarriagecar wash... put your car on the ramps on go at it....It will save you money your car and It possibly could save someone some day you just never know....

Well what did you expect from a car guy talking spring fresh? Now go wash your car and make it shine top and bottom and the inside .....peace zane

The smell of spring or is it....

After the long hard winter months what more could one ask for then a beautiful spring day. The sweet smell of the flowers blooming , the sounds of kids playing outside , the sun shining down on your face, neighbors out cleaning up their yards ...All the joys of spring...You could not ask for more...

OR COULD YOU....?

Well if your a Car Guy....(and live in the Northern States) You look forward to the road salt washing away with spring rains, the dust coming off your car cover, the first smell of your hot rod starting up and the ever present smell of fresh rubber grinding the asphalt as you go through the gears of your beloved hot rod...yes spring a great time of year...

What else do you the Car guy I mean (person) like to do in the spring? Well if your like me you love going to the swap meets and car shows to find that one part you need to finish a project or find a new project to start on or spending the day with the kids looking at the classic cars...And this years list looks to be a good one.

One of my favorite events is The Canfield Swap meet held every year at the Canfield Fairgrounds. I have been going to this event for ...well its been so long I don't remember how long..lets just say a long long time... They hold a Spring, Summer, and Fall event there every year...I have only missed one event they held there in the last 7 or 8 years...that's how much I like it..

It is only $5 a day or $7 for the whole 3 day event

Free parking.....yes free parking it doesn't get cheaper then that...

The vendors, the staff, and Dave and Ed put on one of the best events in Ohio and the surrounding States. Dave and Ed drive around in there golf cart talking with people and making sure everything is going ok ...It is by far one of the best events I go to And I go to a lot of car shows and swap meets. And if you see Dave or Ed you can tell them Zane sent you ..but it will not do me any good because they will just think it was my dad that sent you....
