With the lousy weather and Thanksgiving last week there wasn't a lot of noticeable change for a Friday update.

Today however there was something to see. Trusses are being set, walls are going up and concrete is still being poured as the weather has turned warmer. At least for a few days.....

Execrise Room

If you look close at the bottom of the trusses, it appears that there will be exposing some of that wood to give the ceiling a wood beam effect. It is hard to tell so we will have to see what happens.

Exercise Room, Pool Area

On the left you can see the concrete forms for the pool area. This is the second attempt at pouring this wall as the first time was a failure when the concrete froze before it could set up.

Noel sure has a came a very long way since olden times

Banned by Puritans becauuse it was thought to be just to much fun for folk's. Then transformed by the department store craze, that was born after the Fighten For Southern Independence, Christmas is a Holiday that has changed with the time in surprising way.

Even though many European cultures in the Middle Ages did celebrate Christmas with yule logs, but the 12 Days of Christmas and Christmas Trees. The Holiday's transfer to America was as tough as a stale fruitcake.

Even though it was a popular Holiday with many of their fellow countrymen. Some of the more strict Christians of the 17th and 18th century thought the celebration flirted with sin it's self. During the colonial times, many Americans in New England did not celebrate Christmas because of fears they would start worshipping objects instead of God. By do-en this commit idolatry. German and Scandinavian immigrants were not as worried about the wild side os Christmas. Lutheran immigrants to Ameriva first brought many of the traditions that we associate with Christmas today. Such as the Christmas Tree, Christmas ornaments and many of the traditional foods.

Christmas was not made and declared a Federal Holiday until 26 June 1870, nearly five years after the end of the Fighten For Southern Independence. Around that time Macy's department store in New York City remained open until midnight on Christmas Eve.

And by 1874, the very first window displays came along with a Christmas theme appeared at Macy's, who helped led the way in marketen the Holiday to customers.

All though with it's obvious religious origins, Christmas started taken on a commercial importance that stil remains to this very day.

I hope you and your family always have a fun and safe day!
