Looking for a a great place to take in scenic views of New Hampshire's Seacoast?
Check out the Garrison HIll Tower, located just off Central Ave. in Dover New Hampshire. The tower, standing at 298 feet gives visitors scenic views of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. On a good, clear day, visitors can get views from Mt. Washington, all the way to Boston.

Looking back in history. The hill has had structures built on it, dating back as far as 1880. It is said that native Americans built a wooden tower there to observe the land. The city of Dover purchased the hill and the land in 1888 when a more modern tower was built. By 1913 a small ski slope had been constructed for the local community to enjoy. By 1970 the tower had been worn with wear and tear, and had to fenced off due to safety issues only to be later restored by local citizens. Most recently in 1994, the tower was rebuilt at the site of the original structure.
One of the greaest things about the tower is that it is free to the public. Anyone form anywhere can come and visit and enjoy the scenery. Just a quick 5 minute drive from my office, the tower is a place that I like to take new visitors to the area. I invite you to take a look someday. Give me a call if you are in town and would like to take a visit to the tower!

In May of 1998, the Dover Police Mounted Patrol began its deployment in our downtown area. The goal with this program was twofold. First, the primary goal was to increase the Police Department's sense of presence in the downtown area and secondly, they hoped to promote a positive image and enhance personal communication with members of the public.

The Dover Police Mounted Patrol relies on volunteers to accomplish a number of tasks from stable management to horse exercising. Some volunteers have extensive equestrian backgrounds, while others have none, but have been willing to "learn on the job". Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and have parental permission if under 18. Experience with horses is not a requirement, but a willingness to work with and around our horses is.
Meet the Horses:
T.J. is a Percheron/Thoroughbred Cross Gelding who came to the Dover Police Department by way of Listowell, Ontario.
T.J. stands 16.3 hands and weighs approximately 1,500 pounds. T.J. is an extremely alert horse, with a very eager disposition. T.J. has been with the Mounted Unit since the very beginning. T.J. is ridden by Officer Michelle Murch and Officer Joseph Caproni.

Black Jack is the Mounted Patrol's newest member. Black Jack is a five year old Percheron/Thoroughbred Cross. Black Jack was donated to the Mounted Patrol Unit in 2007. Black Jack stands 16.2 hands and weighs approximately 1500 pounds and is still growing. Black Jack is currently in training. His primary rider is Officer Michelle Murch.
King Arthur is a registered Percheron draft horse. King Arthur stands 17 hands tall and weighs approximately 1,800 pounds. King Arthur was obtained by the Dover Mounted Patrol in the spring of 1998, to replace another horse who had colic and died. King Arthur was previously at the Tufts University Veterinarian School in Massachusetts where he was a stud horse. The handlers at the school felt he would be a perfect police horse, and when they heard of our horse dying, we were able to make arrangements to have him assigned to us. King Arthur is a large, bold horse, but with a disposition anxious to please. He is a very willing worker and loves the attention he gets from the community downtown. King Arthur was broke to ride and did basic mounted police training in the City of Boston. His primary rider is Officer John Usher.

Well, it's been a long while since I've been asked to do one of these. I have to admit, I'm not a juge fan of the MEME. But, I'll be a good sport and play. I was tagged recently by Sharon Tara, and asked to do a photo MEME. So, here goes!
Here are the rules:
1) Type out all the Questions below and answer them with a picture.
2) Tag 5 people and spread the love out. That is it.
Age at my next Birthday -
Favorite movie or tv character -
Favorite food -

Favorite sports team -

Of course! For those of you that know me and read my blogs!
Place I would most like to visit -

I've been a lot of places, Vegas just happens to be one I've never been to!
Bad habit -
some might say I drink way too much coffee!
So, enough about me, my past, and my habits. It's time to pass along the fun to others. I guess I've been instructed to pass this along to five other members. So, here you guys ladies and gentlemen, you up!
