ButterflyWings of Hope Butterfly Release Event in Lebanon New Hampshire, this Wings of Hope Butterfly Release Event is to benefit the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire. This benefit event will be held rain or shine on Saturday the 11th of September 2010. Meet up at Colburn Park in Lebanon, New Hampshire.


The Butterfly Release Event will start at 1:00 P.M., there is going to be inspirational messages and a public name reading of those being remembered and honored. As the butterflys are released and float skywards, along with the good wishes and prayers of those who watch them.


Wings of Hope Butterfly Release Event in Lebanon New Hampshire, if you would like to sponsor a butterfly to be released, please register by Wednesday the 8th of September. Lebanon, New Hampshire-Lebanon Opera House-La Boheme and Don Giovanni, Opera North will be presenting La Boheme on Saturday the 27th, Thursday the 12th, Saturday the 14th, Wednesday the 18th, and Friday the 20th of August 2010. Performances will begin at 7:30 P.M. on each above date.


Opera North will begin performing Don Giovanni, on Friday the 13th, Tuesday the 17th, Thursday the 19th, and Saturday the 21 of August 2010. These performances will begin at 7:30 P.M. for each performance date.


Tickets for these performances run, $25.00, $40.00, $55.00, $70.00, and $85.00


The Lebanon Opera House is located at 51 North Park Street Lebanon, New Hampshire

Incorporated: 1761

Origin: The name Lebanon comes from the biblical cedars of ancient Lebanon, a Semitic word meaning white that refers to the nearby mountain with perpetual snows on its summit. Established in 1761, the name for this town was probably selected by the many early settlers who were from Lebanon, Connecticut, including Eleazar Wheelock, founder of Dartmouth College. Lebanon was the original location of the Indian Charity School from which Dartmouth is descended. In 1781, Lebanon was one of the towns that attempted to join Vermont, but later returned to New Hampshire. Lebanon was incorporated as a city in 1957.

Population, Year of the First Census Taken: 1,180 residents in 1790

Population Trends: Population change for Lebanon totaled 4,076 over 50 years, from 8,495 in 1950 to 12,571 in 2000. The largest decennial percent change was a 14 percent increase between 1970 and 1980; the smallest, a three percent increase between 1990 and 2000. The 2008 Census estimate for Lebanon was 12,806 residents, which ranked 23rd among New Hampshire's incorporated cities and towns.

Population Density, 2008: 317.5 persons per square mile of land area. Lebanon contains 40.3 square miles of land area and 0.9 square miles of inland water area.
