I haven't seen so many guns going at one time in a number of years. At this pace I would assume all of the South Peak slopes will be open be the weekend. The North Peak Trails were all up and Running...all were in nice shape, I skipped Upper Walking Boss as that too had more than 30 snow guns blasting away.
It was a dark-ish day today and snowed intermittently - that combined with the New tower guns, made it a light lens day for goggles.
I took out my brand new skis today...that truly shows faith in the ability to lay down the man made stuff...and not ruin a new pair of skis. The Report of the Rossignol Statos - Gs 183 cm...was a resounding thumbs up BTW.
The two new trails opened for this season on the South Peak side of Loon (Twitcher & Jobber) presented a nice fall- line, great pitch and earned the Black Diamond rating they were given. Boom Run was open, the Double Black Diamond trail Rip Saw had 40+ guns as did Cruiser...so those will be open for the weekend worriers - if I were asked to venture a guess (with the new tower gun system) I would say they will be worth skiing the day they open.
Looking to Purchase a slope side Home - Building Site or Condominium at Loon Mountain, Give Alpine Lakes Realty a call - Our Parent Company Cargill Construction has just completed out 13th home on the South Mountain side at Loon and they are truly spectacular.
...I try to ski Mid-week as most of my second home showings happen during the weekend - Looking to ski midweek with a Realtor - Drop me a note.

Talking about the weather may be superficial, but not when you work in the ski resort industry. Freezing rain doesn’t make for great ski conditions – it does however make for beautiful glistening trees especially when the sun hits them just right.
On this Christmas Eve – Eve, here is wishing you all some Holiday Cheer. If you are looking for a White Christmas – Drive on up to the White Mountains and be part of the winter wonderland.
On to the Holiday weather –news, I’m happy to report last nights 4-6 inch snow fall will ensure a white Christmas in the White mountains of NH.
Loon Mountain ski resort and the towns of Lincoln and Woodstock New Hampshire are ready for the Holiday rush of New England Skier's , their families and of course the spending that comes along with a Winter School vacation…in the White Mountains.
This shot was taken in my Back yard at 8:45 on Friday December 23rd 2011, in Woodstock New Hampshire. The Pemigewasset river is off in the distance and is still flowing this time of year...soon it will ice over, and be blanketed in the snow that follows this holiday storm.

Loon ski report…my first one of the 2011-2012 season.
December 14th 2011 – sadly was my first day on the snow this
year. With the lack of the natural stuff…I wasn’t in a rush to get on the slopes. But I was pleasantly surprised today. Sure there wasn’t much open, but what was wasn’t bad…top to bottom runs, the Gondola and two other chairs were running and the trails were groomed quite nicely.
I began to question if today was the day to strap on the boards, as the misty fog in the parking lot at my arrival wasn’t a cheery sight. But I was dressed to ski and by gosh that was what I was there to do. When I reached the top of the mountain it was snowing lightly and looking much more like a winter wonderland than the parking lot. I skied to the North Peak chair and found Upper and lower Walking Boss were both in great shape. Next a run down Sunset (where some trees have been removed since last season), Upper Bear claw was groomed and no death cookies were to be found. The rest of the trails opened: Upper Flying fox, seven brothers, Haul Back , lower picked rock, Cross cut…and a few others I didn’t get to were all in decent shape for man made snow.
All in all a good day…We have to hope the cold weather stay so
more trails can be opened and a little help from mother nature would be really nice. Happy Skiing friends…and if you make it to Loon and want to see some real estate (or go skiing) give me a call.

9 Moose lane “Eagles Nest” section of Clearbrook Village.
The highest elevation homes in the Loon ski Resort Valley reside at Eagles Nest. These detached planned unit development sites offer some spectacular views. And none are better than #9 Moose Run lane.

The subdivision offers shuttle service for the all to get to the slopes when they are ready…the eager strike out the earliest – while the less ambitious ease in to the day’s activities (and can come home for lunch if they want).

Here is what comes with this $279,900 home at Loon Mountain in Lincoln New Hampshire: three bedrooms –plus a loft, two full baths, full size laundry, ample kitchen space for the cooks to gather, a wood burning fireplace, huge picture windows to enjoy the view and a wrap around deck for the other seasons of the year. Outdoor is why people come to the mountains and this home abuts the White Mountain national forest land.
The seller is from out of state and the property is being offered fully furnished and ready to enjoy for this ski season (and many more).
