About Meredith's Lake Winnipesaukee

It was an absolutely stunning weekend this past weekend in Meredith, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. I took a walk around the waterfront and enjoyed seeing the people boating, fishing with their kids, walking the docks, shopping at Mill Falls and other area stores, sitting under the trees enjoying the scenery and just plain enjoying the beautiful weather.

Meredith is a bustling little New England town in the summer with lots going on during the weekends, people enjoying their summer vacations, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, shopping in the uniques shops and enjoying meals one of the local restaurants. There is always something to do here. We have another good month of summer left, even though people are starting to talk about back to school and fall camping trips. But, the level of activity keeps up here, it just changes flavor with the seasons.

I have moved to Lakes Region, New Hampshire from Loudoun County, Virginia and have been very busy with getting my New Hampshire Real Estate License and affilliating with a broker. We settled back in Meredith, which is probably, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful towns on Lake Winnipesaukee. This has been a very exhausting way to spend the month of July. But, it has also given me a good remider of what people go through when they move their families to a new location. Good to have fresh in my mind as an agent working with clients!

The Lakes Region is actually our home, so we are returning after a few years away, but none the less, moving is a major project and I don't like doing it. It puts into perspective the issues that our clients go through when they come to us for help.

One important issue is, what broker do I use to help me with my moving project? As I make this move, I am saying "What broker do I want to affiliate with?" Having come from the Mid-Atlantic region and been with Long and Foster, I had to make a change because L&F is not in New Hampshire. So, having the classes and passing the exam behind me, I am working through the decision process of where to hang my license and call my new "home". This is a very important decision to me so I have been laboring over it.

There are many good companies with a presence here, Caldwell Banker, ReMax, Century 21, Keller WIlliams is about 40 miles south of here, but then there are several independant offices that have good market share as well. Which broker do I choose and why? I have one last interview today and then I will choose. I want to be in the office working next week, losing the month of July was bad enough, I am anxious to get to work building my new real estate business in New Hampshire.

I Love what I do! I have two great jobs.

Along with being a Realtor at Maxfield Real Estate in Center Harbor, New Hampshire, I'm the music director at Inter-Lakes Junior/Senior High School in Meredith, New Hampshire. We have students attending Inter-Lakes from Sandwich, Center Harbor, and Meredith. The population of the high school is just under 400 and my high school band is 52 members. I have been teaching at Inter-Lakes for 14 years, and consider the opportunity to work with young people at this fine school one of the high points of my life.

Monday we have the pleasure and good fortune to honor the men and women of the United States, who have served our Nation or continue to serve our Nation, by marching in two Memorial Day Parades. Not a single member of the band has said they can't be there, or that they have other plans. When everyone else in the school has a three day weekend the members of the band and flag squad will devote their day off to perform and show honor to our men and women of the armed forces.

I am an extremely blessed man to work with such wonderful young men and women and who knows for a fact that many of our youth appreciate and value what it means to be a citizen of the United States as well as how to give back in their own way and to say thank you.

In your own town or city please take the time to attend a Memorial Day event. It is always moving and often a paradigm shift that can change your life at least for a day if not for longer.
