Plainfield Continues to Celebrate 250th in Plainfield New Hampshire, one and all come on out to help the folks in Plainfield, New Hampshire Celebrate the 250th year of the Town.

Plainfield is a nice SmallCountryTown which is one of the many Towns which make up Sullivan County, New Hampshire. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 2,364. The town is home to the Helen Woodruff Smith Bird Sanctuary and AnnieDuncanStateForest. The central settlement in town, where 205 people resided at the 2010 census, is defined as the Plainfield census-designated place (CDP) and is located along New Hampshire Route 12A. Plainfield includes the Village of Meriden, home to KimballUnionAcademy, which is a private preparatory school.




Plainfield Continues to Celebrate 250th in Plainfield New Hampshire, the Town of Plainfield was first settled by a group of folks from Plainfield, Connecticut. It was one of the towns incorporated by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth in 1761, at the beginning of the reign of King George III. A part of Plainfield known as Meriden Parish, named for the farm of Massachusetts Governor Jonathan Belcher, became the site of KimballUnionAcademy, built in 1813.

Plainfield sits at the Northern edge of the enclave which is known as the Cornish Art Colony, which existed between 1885 and 1930. Maxfield Parrish painted the stage backdrop in the Plainfield Town Hall. Back in 1910, Mr. Ernest Harold Baynes founded the Meriden Bird Club, it was the first institution of its type in our Nation.




Plainfield Continues to Celebrate 250th in Plainfield New Hampshire, this evening the 14th of August 2011 at the Plainfield School there is going to be a picnic and corn roast held from 6:00 P.M. to dark, the corn is being provided for the folks attending. There will be two or three grills available for the general use of folks. If you do plan on attending you should bring chairs and blankets.

The Upper Valley Community Band will be peforming from 6:30 P.M. to dusk. Then at dusk fireworks will begin for the folks attending this here part of the 250th Celebration in Plainfield, New Hampshire.
