Bay Head is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Mantoloking to south, Bay Head is considered part of the Jersey Shore's "Gold Coast".
The community was supposed to have been named "Bayhead," after the Bayhead Land Company that developed the area in the 1870s. A railroad sign posted in the 1880s labeled the station as "Bay Head," and the name stuck when the borough was incorporated in 1886. The name also comes from the town's location, which is at the "head" of Barnegat Bay.
Some of the famous past residents of Bay Head include author L. Ron Hubbard and Roger King, owner of King World Productions, produces game shows such as Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy!; and co-produces alongside Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Phil McGraw.
Call or email me at your convenience, I'd be happy to help you any way I can.

What do 5 out of 6 of these homes have in common?
Give up?
ONLY 1 was SHOVELED OUT this past weekend! Yes, you read that right; 5 out of 6 "Million Dollar" homes, listed "For Sale", by brokerages on the "Jersey Shore", were NOT SHOVELED out from the last snowstorm...and probably the 2 before that too.
When asked how she was supposed to show her ready, willing & able buyer these Luxury Shore Homes, our agent was advised, "have your buyer bring a shovel" by the Listing Broker of 2 of these homes...REALLY?
FAIL!
Here's Our Winner!:
And we wonder why our public perception is lower than used car salespeople and lawyers...C'mon man!
And the rest of the day to you...

Now may be an advantageous stage of your life to buy a New Jersey shore vacation home. Typically the December and January months signal low tide for sellers -- meaning they've yet to reel in a live buyer. All those days of fishing and selling. They may be hungry for a buyer's bite (translated as "discount offer.)
I once read that the most common items purchased during a blizzard are snow shovels, eggs and beer. I suggest another basket filler, sun tan lotion.
Especially if you're in the market to buy a Jersey Shore house in Monmouth or Ocean Counties.

Everyone else is busy sniffing Egg Nog when now is the time (As a Realtor I am legally required to use the schlocky imperative "Now Is the Time!" to goad you into action) to sniff out some Coppertone.
Yes, Yuletide means low tide for sellers. Not too many qualified buyers wash up along the Jersey shore coastline.
The Barrier Island is a stretch of land that runs from Bay Head to Seaside Park with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and Barnegat Bay to the west. The next four months will be brutal on Jersey Shore waterfront and ocean side condos and homes for sale.
Between freezing rain and whipping wind the beach acquires a surreal, barren landscape. The absentee seller's worries, however, are just starting. Maintenance and cost include:

Granted, the new buyer of a Jersey Shore vacation home will still face the same risks and costs next Winter but the lifestyle of the endless summer is enough to propel you through the slog.
Now is the time because my guess is many sellers aren't going to see a buyer (let alone a written contract) for several weeks.
The renters start emerging from their Holiday cocoons in late January and mid February. The promise of a full twelve week rental income is enough for some sellers to weather the Winter so they can cash in on Summer.

As a buyer you would have lost the opportunity to submit a low ball offer on a Jersey Shore second home to see if the seller is about to throw the beach towel in on the Winter of 2010.
