Recently I read a book by Laurie Moore-Moore, founder of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing. A very smart lady and a very insightful book! In it, she suggested looking at sales during a certain period (in this case I'm going to choose 2008) to see how many "real buyers" were in the market and which price ranges performed better or worse than others. So, here is this report for homes and condos sold in Chatham Township, New Jersey in 2008. This information is garnered from the Garden State Multiple Listing Service and is deemed to be accurate but not guaranteed.

According to an article in the Daily Record Newspaper today, there was a fire on Monday 3/31 which destroyed 10 Chatham Township NJ condominiums in the Briarwood Complex located on Sentinel Court. There are several town home complexes along this strip in Chatham Township. They don't as of yet know what caused the fire, and there were no injuries reported. The Red Cross was there to help out any Chatham residents in need, but everyone seemed to be ok.

Most people don't realize that Chatham, New Jersey is made up of Chatham Township and Chatham Borough.

Chatham Borough is closer to downtown Chatham shopping and the Midtown Direct Train to NYC. Chatham Township is further from downtown with larger homes and corresponding prices.

The beauty of Chatham is that there is one Regional school system that consistently ranks highly, the downtown is lovely and its residents take pride in their green, forested land at the edge of the Great Swamp.
