Mortgage Rate Update

Interest Rates Change Daily

Interest rates change constantly, but it is important to know that rates are cyclical. If rates are currently at historical lows then we know there is a strong probability rates will go up again, and vice versa. Certain economic indicators such as unemployment data, consumer price index, retail sales data, and consumer confidence all have an effect on mortgage interest rates. But the key factor to watch is the relationship between stocks and bonds.

When the economy is slow and the stock market is "bearish," many investors move money out of stocks and into bonds and mortgage-backed securities. This causes mortgage interest rates to go down. When the economy is doing well, the stock market rallies and is considered "bullish." Investors then have a tendency to move their money out of that safe haven of bonds and mortgage-backed securities and back into stocks. As a result, mortgage interest rates go up.

My team and I keep a close eye on mortgage interest rates at all times in an effort to alert our clientele of opportunities to obtain lower financing. Call us for a free evaluation of your current loan program.

Wildflowers for Earth Day at Galloway Township Middle School

Antoinette Murphy, GRI: Real Estate Agent in Absecon, NJ

Today is EARTH DAY! And, the Student Council of the Galloway Township Middle School will be creating a wildflower garden in a courtyard on the school grounds. My daughter, Tina, who is the President of the Student Council asked me to go shopping for wildflower seeds. Of course I had all day to take care of this, but I had a busy day at work as a RE/MAX agent. Tina reminded me at 6:30 that I needed to pick up the seeds. After an hour and a half of searching and shopping, I tracked down the perfect wild flower seeds at my local Shoprite! Of course, I started out at the local garden center, who was totally out, but I did pick up patch seed for my lawn. Then I tried the hardware store. Everyone knows that you can always find a display of seeds at your local hardware store. Nope! Just the little packets of marigolds, morning glories, etc.

Okay, let's try Plan C: Let's check out the supermarket...never know! I drove across the street to the Shop Rite before I drive down to The Home Depot, who I called so that I would save a trip if I can find out on the phone whether they had any wildflower seeds in stock before driving there. I asked for the Garden Center and was put on hold. Well...I think they forgot me because I was on hold for at least 1/2 an hour ON MY CELL PHONE...hello! minutes ticking!! In the meantime, with help from an employee and friend, Diane, we found the perfect selection.

Thanks to the Student Council there will be beautiful flowers to admire.

Want to Sell Your Home This Winter?

Antoinette Murphy, GRI: Real Estate Agent in Absecon, NJ

Selling your home this winter

Selling your home during the winter months can be a bit more challenging. If you want to get your house sold, consider these tips:

Make sure you put away all of your holiday decorations by the end of January. Make sure your home is de-cluttered.

  • Clean out your gutters as you remove your outdoor holiday lights.
  • Put higher watt bulbs in your indoor lamps. This gives your home a more homey, warm feeling. It's always nice to drive up to a home that looks warm and inviting.
  • Keep your walkway clear of snow and debris that can accumulate during cold windy months.

These are just a few tips for you while your home is on the market this winter. Remember, the most serious buyers are out looking for a home during the cold months of the year. Don't miss out on these buyers.

If you are interested in a free comparable market analysis of your home, or want to list your property for sale, don't delay, call me right away. I know all the tips and tricks to get the highest price for your home in the shortest amount of time on the market.
