Preschool and Kindergarten Registration is Just Around the Corner - Hillsborough, NJ

Melissa Jenkins: Real Estate Agent in Hillsborough, NJ

Yes, it's that time of year again where parents are trying to figure out what school to send their preschoolers and kindergartners to in September. Whether you are a full-time working parent or a full-time at-home working parent, it can be difficult to find the school you are most comfortable sending your child to. Luckily in Hillsborough we are offered quite a few different schools to choose from.

Back To Preschool Theme Bus

For those of you who are not familiar with Hillsborough Township's school system there are 6 elementary schools: Amsterdam, Hillsborough Elementary, Sunnymead, Triangle, Woodfern and Woods Road. Kindergarten is only half day in the township. Depending on your situation, you may need to seek after-care for your child. Below is information I put together regarding the preschool programs in Hillsborough as well as after-care facilities that I personally know of. I hope you find this useful in your planning.

More information needed on collapses

New Yorkers need to understand why a 300-foot tall wind turbine weighing 187 tons collapsed in a Madison County cornfield.

The collapse is not an isolated incident. However just because such a failure is uncommon provides no excuse not to aggressively pursue the reasons why. All across the state communities are facing pressure to site wind turbines. As these local governments proceed they must know why the turbine fell.

NJEstates.net

The turbine near Fenner in northern Madison County came crashing to the ground Sunday before sunrise. Less than 10 years old, the structure fell more than 1,000 feet away from a house or road. That is fortunate.

The owners of the 20-turbine wind farm, Canastota Windpower LLC., a subsidiary of Enel North America Inc. based in Andover, Mass., were investigating the circumstances earlier this week. Such an investigation by the owner is certainly necessary but is not adequate.

"Harnessing the Sun to Store the Wind"

Electricity from renewable sources can be like a perfect luncheon served at 4 a.m., a nice thing but far more appreciated at a different hour. Electricity is hard to store, though, which is why nearly all of it is consumed at the instant it is generated, and energy storage is still in its infancy.

Now a Phoenix company, Solar Southwest Technology, is going at the problem with a new twist.

NJEstates.net

The idea is to take surplus energy at any hour of the day, and from any source, and use it to pump air into a subterranean cavern - up to 350 pounds of air a square inch. Then, when electricity is needed, the air can be bled from the cavern to spin a turbine, a device that converts the energy of a passing gas into rotary energy. The turbine spins an generator and puts power on the grid on demand, rather than at the whim of sun or breeze.

But to get more value from the air, it should be heated so that it expands and drives the turbine blades better. For that, the system uses a mirrored dish to focus the sun's energy on a receptacle filled with a fluid, which captures the heat at up to 1,700 degrees and carries it to where it is needed.

landlords

Are landlords responsible citizens? Some would say that they are not responsible. Some governments have blamed housing investors for contributing to the recent property booms and the over inflated values in some areas.

NJEstates.net

There are many reasons why property values rise and in the end it comes down to supply and demand and it could be argued that property investors act as a release valve to moderate the excesses of volatile property markets.

Generally speaking investors do not want to pay too much for their purchases, because they need to pay attention to their bottom line and their purchases need to be profitable. It is rare for genuine property investors to get carried away with price when purchasing a new property. Of all purchasers they almost certainly will have worked through the figures very carefully.

By helping to maintain the national stock of rental property the investor will keep many would be home buyers out of the market simply because they are satisfied and well accommodated in a rental home.

In contrast government themselves can add to the cost of building a new home with a large array of infrastructure and compliance costs that have increased hugely over the last few years and have impacted on the final price of a new house.

Property investors are also criticized for not putting their investment dollars into the nation's stock markets and helping business to grow. The answer to that can be seen in the volatility experienced in the stock markets over the last few months.

In contrast housing is a safer investment. Returns still tend to be good even in a depressed market if you have good tenants. The rents bring in income and the fact that values drop has no barring on anything unless you are compelled to sell and of course you do not willingly sell in a depressed market. Some would even argue that you never sell investment property. After all why would you sell something that is making a profit. If you want to buy something else a mortgage can be organized readily enough under most circumstances.

The fact that property investors own a huge portion of a nation's stock of rental homes, should make them valued citizens of that country. After all, who is going to accommodate the homeless if investors dropped out of the market. The Tax Payer would doubtless pick up the slack. The cost would be huge and there would be no advantage gained.

If there is a lack of investment in real business then that is a problem for business to sort out. Safer stock market offerings would do well, but in the end investors will look after their own interests. Property investment has proved to be safe and lucrative for the long term investor.
