Military Discounts Available.....Just Ask by Leander McClain, Realtor

My fellow Veterans,

Thank YOU for your service to OUR Country.

Serving in the military is not always an easy thing to do. Whether you are active duty or reservist, the same applies. All vets typically miss many birthdays, anniversaries, little league games, school plays, etc. These thing are missed as the vet is serving to keep our country safe and free.

A number of companies offer discounts as their way of saying Thank You For Your Military Service. Many times, all you have to do is ask. Below is a list of discounts which may be available. If a discount is not available at one store, don't be afraid to ask at another store. I know for a fact that my local Lowe's offers a military discount but Home Depot does not.

Good Luck and once again......Thank You

Franklin Institute & Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia: Free & Reduced Admission

Leander McClain: NJ Foreclosures & REO NJSouthRealEstate.Com: Real Estate Agent in Cherry Hill, NJ

The Franklin Institute and Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are wonderful places to visit with children.  I often suggest to my real estate clients in Burlington Township, Burlington County, New Jersey that a trip to these museums is something that you want to experience with your children.  A trip the museum may be out of reach for some families with limited income and several children.

NOT TO FEAR

I am always excited to pass along a bargain that I come across and this is a biggie, especially for the Franklin Institute.  Free Admission to Franklin Institute will be offered from 5 to 8pm on the third Wednesday of every month.  The Please Touch Museum will remain open from 5 to 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month charging $2 for Admission.  Costs of these programs will be covered by Target.

Earlier this year, I attended a community night at the Franklin Institute.  It was great experience to see all of the children enjoying themselves.  I must say that I had a great time also.  There was a pirates exhibit and a great NASCAR IMAX movie (obtw, I am a HUGE Nascar...dating back to the days of The King, Richard Petty).

So I urge everyone that has an interest to take advantage of these free events.  Don't just take your kids, share...take along a child from your neighborhood.

Finally, my business is built on referrals. If you have someone that you care about that is looking to buy or sell real estate now or in the future, in or out of my area, please contact me and let me show you how I can can help them.

Have a Great Day

Money Saving Tips - Let Me Share One (maybe two) Of My SECRETS With You

Leander McClain: NJ Foreclosures & REO NJSouthRealEstate.Com: Real Estate Agent in Cherry Hill, NJ

DO You Use Coupons?......YOU Don't?

WHY NOT??

Yesterday I went grocery shopping.  Every week my wife & I clip coupons from the Sunday paper.  In fact, we only get the weekend newspaper.  You can see by my receipt on the right that I saved $38.90 on my shopping order or 24% of the total

$38.90

I don't know about you, but if I see $38.90 laying on the ground, I am not going to walk over it and leave it lying there.  In these tough economic times coupons may be the way to go.

You Don't Need A Newspaper To Get FREE Coupons

You heard me right.  I will share some of my favorite sites which allows you to print your own coupons at home.  Take a look at some of these sites:

www.fatwallet.com

www.couponmom.com

www.coolsavings.com

www.couponcabin.com

www.utimatecoupons.com

www.coupons.smartsource.com

Another Secret Few People Know About

Have you ever shopped online?  When you got to the checkout page, did you see that box that said something like "enter coupon code"?  When I am shopping online and I see that, my eyes light up.  What that box means is.....somewhere, there is a code that you can type in the box and it will save you money.  I purchased a Christmas gift today.  I received $150 off, free upgrades and free shipping (cyber Monday sale). When I saw the coupon box, I searched online for (enter company name) COUPON CODES and VOILA, I found a code that saved me an additional $30.  Now sometimes these are hit or miss, but isn't it worth a few minutes worth of searching.

If you are keeping track so far this week I have saved $38.90 (groceries), $180 (0nline shopping), $49 (value of shipping) for a grand total of $267.90 and the week is only half over.

Good Luck,

I would like to hear from my readers how much money you have saved and how you did it.

Have A Great Day

This Year My Turkey Will Be SMOKIN :)

Leander McClain: NJ Foreclosures & REO NJSouthRealEstate.Com: Real Estate Agent in Cherry Hill, NJ

Dad, What's That On The Grill?

I must say that the very best turkey that you can eat is a Fried Turkey. I have been frying turkeys for over ten years. Fried turkeys have become popular and it seems that everbody is frying. When I still want a juicy turkey, but don't feel like the work that goes into a fried turkey, I will inject my turkey and cover it with cajun spices and let it sit in the oven overnight. Then I throw that bad boy into the oven.

When I really feel like kicking back and still having a good turkey, I will do a smoked turkey. There is lot of information on the web about smoking a turkey, but I have found that the easiest set of directions are courtesy of Geoff Maw.

Do you need a special smoker and equipment?

NAH?

I throw that baby on my charcoal grill, put the coals on one side and the bird on the other and let it go. I usually will put it on before I go to bed. Some people baste and keep adding charcoal to the fire......if I am lazy, I do none of that. If it's not done in the morning, I chuck it into the oven until done.

Here is Geoff's recipe. Try it for your next gathering....You wont be dissapointed. Ps. I sometimes inject the bird also to make it a little juicier

*********************************************************

I have found that it takes around 14-16 hours to cook a 10-12 lb turkey during summer and as long as 20 hours during winter, outside air temp makes a big difference. I have never had a dry overcooked bird YET!!

Now if you would like my secret recipe for making the average turkey into SUPER BUZZARD!!! Here it is below. Good luck ..... Geoff Maw

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS FOR YOU:

  • ONLY USE KINGSFORD CHARCOAL!!! The other brands do not burn evenly or as long.
  • When starting the fire do not put to much charcoal in at one time. Burning smaller amounts as you go along will mean better heat control and less waste.
  • Make sure the turkey is on the top rack and that you keep the water tray full.
  • Add the wood chips during the cooking process (again in small amount).

    1 Fresh Turkey (Completely Thawed)
    1 Unpeeled Orange
    1 Apple

    Combine the Following:
    Sage
    Basil
    Chopped Garlic
    2 onions
    Thyme
    Pepper
1/4 a Package of Bacon (Optional)
    1/4 Cup Sherry

Put the above in a food processor/blender and reduce till it is of a paste texture. Clean Turkey and then with fingers gently separate skin from meat at the breast, sides and leg area's. With fingers place above past up under the skin evenly. Then cut orange and apple into quarters and place them into cavity. Place Turkey in smoker, pour red wine or sherry over top of Turkey, cook and enjoy!!!!!
