Resident asks to change description of Pequannock on official website Sunday, May 30, 2010 BY STEVE JANOSKI Suburban Trends STAFF WRITER
Resident Rocco Salluce approached the Township Council at its May 25 meeting to ask why Pequannock's official website says that the township is comprised of two communities.
According to Salluce, the township website says that Pequannock is a "political subdivision of the State of New Jersey and encompasses two communities, Pequannock and Pompton Plains."
"I'm not aware of this," he said. "A lot of people seem to think that we have two towns here - Pequannock and Pompton Plains.
"This is the Township of Pequannock, and Pompton Plains... happens to be a section of Pequannock, and that should be made very clear to everybody here," he said.
"If anybody wants to have a distinction between the two of them, then let's separate the towns," he said.
Salluce asked the township administration to change the description accordingly.
Mayor Ed Engelbart agreed with Salluce and said that the website should be changed.
