ABQ Uptown Northeast Albuquerque, New Mexico

Approaching ABQ Uptown from South Louisiana

ABQ Uptown located on the Northeast Quadrant of Louisiana Boulevard and Indian School Road Albuquerque, New Mexico boasts the most modern amenities of all New Mexico’s Shopping Centers. It has been described as “New Mexico’s Ultimate Shopping Destination” but ABQ Uptown is more than just a shopping experience. It is more of an urban experience woven in semi-suburban atmosphere. It provides such contrasts one would probably get confused if this were somewhere other than the Land of Enchantment.

There are two components to ABQ Uptown, a commercial and a residential.

The commercial component known as ABQ Uptown is at the Intersection of Uptown Boulevard and Q Street. Here you can find from apparel, to home furnishing, dining and entertainment to electronics. You are likely to find a little of everything at ABQ Uptown. With approximately 220,000 square feet of retail space it attracts visitors from far and wide, and has become the favorite of the fashion conscious and the trend setters. Below is a list of the varied merchants represented in ABQ Uptown:

Are American Colleges Failing our Children?

Are American Colleges Failing our Children?

With the current unemployment rate at its highest level in years, today's college graduates are under duress. They are usually saddled with student loan debt that definitely put them at a disadvantage. The numbers speak for themselves: I cite Maryls Harris, The Consumer Reporter's article " Highest — and Lowest Earning —College Majors"
Earnings based on College Major:
• Counseling/Psychology………………………………… …$29,000
• Early Childhood Education…………………………………$36,000
• Theology and Religious Vocations……………………….$38,000
• Human Services and Community Organizations…… ..$38,000
• Social Work…………………………………………………… $39,000
• Drama and Theater Arts ……………………………….…. $40,000

Will somebody tell me how does someone survive on a $29,000 salary?
Let's break it down....
Salary.... $29,000.00
Monthly Income 2416.00
Taxes(20%) (483.20)
Social Security & Medicare (169.12)
Monthly Medical Insurance (450.00)
Student Loan($30,000 at 6%) (333.06)
Car Payment & Insurance (300.00)
Rent/Mortgage (500.00)
Balance 180.00

The remaining $180 will have to take care of food and utilities. This individual is under water. There is nothing for savings. This is one of the biggest reason why people get into credit card debt.

As Ms Harris wrote in her "my kids struggle with student loan debts and jobs that don’t pay a ton of dough, I’ve had my own doubts. Maybe all that money that they, my husband and I poured into higher education would have been better spent setting them up in businesses that couldn’t be outsourced to Bangladesh, like say, plumbing or time-share sales."We need a change?

Now you may be wondering what does this have to do with Real Estate. As REALTORS these are the individuals that we are marketing to. They are the ones on Facebook. Do you see these individuals as good FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER candidates?
This is only chapter one...

What Would you do if someone Keyed your Car?

What Would you do if someone Keyed your Car?

Over the past two weeks my car has been in the Shop for extensive repairs and a 100K miles Service B Tune up. After driving it now for a day, I am starting to feel back to normal...with one exception of course, a 5-inch gash right above the wheel well on the passenger side.

I was at a loss for word, when I saw it. I felt so violated...I have been trying to figure out what coward would have done something like this. What would I have done had I seen someone destroying my property...it would not have been a pretty sight.

Today, I had an interesting conversation with my friend, Ginger, she said, "Lloyd, they are Jealous of you" Look at the car you drive?" They can't afford it so they hate to see someone like you who has it." Nothing that she said, sat well with me. Nothing justifies this action.

I would like to hear from other real estate professionals about their experience with people scratching their vehicles. What do you do to mitigate the situation. As REALTORS, our vehicles are an extension of our business.

ABQ Uptown Homes and Real Estate

Paul Chavez: Albuquerque Realtor, NM EcoBroker, and General Contractor : Real Estate Agent in Albuquerque, NM

ABQ Uptown real estate offer many housing opportunities for sale and rent. Many homes were built in the 1950's and 1960's, with brick exteriors like Mossman homes. Houses located in more established neighborhoods often offer mature landscaping, with huge trees that provide wonderful shade during those hot Albuquerque summer months. Currently there are a number of condo developments underway for those looking for a more urban experience.

Traditionally a business and shopping district, and close to the center of the Albuquerque Metro
Area, Uptown Albuquerque offers convenient access to all city amenities. Here you will find many
professional offices, hotels, proximity to freeway access, and retail shopping. Three of the four
largest malls in Albuquerque reside here, including Winrock, Coronado Mall, and the upscale
outdoor ABQ Uptown Mall: a 2,000 sq. ft. mixed-use retail lifestyle center located on the corner
of Indian School Rd. and Louisiana. National chain stores include Trader Joes, Crate and Barrel,
and Anthropologie Clothing. There are two wonderful libraries in Albuquerque Uptown, Erna
Fergusson and Tony Hillerman, and over ten parks offering lots of shade during those hot
summer days. EXPO New Mexico, the home of the State Fairgrounds, is also located in Albuquerque Uptown. Every weekend EXPO New Mexico hosts Albuquerque's largest flea market, and in the month of September, it hosts the NM State Fair, one of the largest state fairs in the whole country.
