I took a break from showing Bernalillo Homes recently and stopped off for lunch at one of my favorite places, the Range Cafe.
I love the food at the range cafe, but I love the atmosphere even more.
There is plenty of artwork on the walls and lots of color on the walls too.
The Range is replete with western charm.
I always request to sit in the room with the beautiful mosaic fireplace.
I've wondered if they call this place "The Range" because of the western "range" character or because of the antigue "ranges" here.
There's a gift shop located across the vestibule. I stumbled upon this amazing bar mantle there.
The story is this bar comes from Ft Sumner NM and is from the mid to late 18o0's. Do you think William McCarty aka William "Bonney" aka "Billy the Kid" might have had a drink at this bar? We'll never know for sure, but I couldn't help picture Billy sipping a whiskey sitting at this bar in my mind.
If a little Billy the Kid lore doesn't get your imagination going when you're visiting New Mexico, I don't know what will!
The food here is outstanding and the service is very good. The atmosphere is quintessential New Mexico.

My wife and I had a great time at the Bernalillo Wine Festival today. The weather was great and the crowds were not too bad.
Over 40 wineries from across New Mexico were represented and close to 30,000 people attended the event over the Labor Day weekend.
Other New Mexico businesses participated as well, everything from Valley Garlic from Placitas NM to Pecos Valley Chili Company.
Here are some pictures from the event:
Although I had a very enjoyable glass of Cabernet from Dos Viejos in Tularosa NM, by far my favorite vendor of the day was New Mexico Pecan Company from Mesilla NM. I didn't bring home any bottles of vino today, but I did bring home some delicious items-whole Pecans, cinnamon praline pecans, sweet and hot pecans, yogurt covered pecans, chocolate covered pecans, plus red and green chili pistachios.
I'm going to suggest that next year they call it the Bernalillo Wine and Pecan Festival. Do you think it will catch on?
By the way, if you would like to live in Bernalillo, a great little New Mexico town, let me know because I sell Bernalillo Homes.
