"I gave it a slope outward" Why?
What's wrong with this picture? When I drove up to this property, I saw this problem right away.
The front porch was added after the fact by the new owners. They did'nt want the structure to touch the home. And when I asked "why is the front porch addition leaning outward"?
Their response was " I did'nt want it to touch the home. And I gave it a slope outward so the water would run off better".
I thought "you have to be kidding me". But i did'nt say anything.
Remember if your going to "improve" your home, then have a qualified contractor do the work.
There are simply way to many "uncle Bob's" out there who think they can do anything.
This was a poor design and a poorly installed "addition" to the home.
I think they detracted from the curb appeal the home originally had in the first place.

It's spring in Carlsbad New Mexico.
With that said, there are a lot of ways you can tell spring is here.
Remember to fill the hummingbird feeders. Put water in the bird baths. Here the water for the birds don't last very long.
I was in the yard the other day when I noticed that I had some flowers that decided it was time to bloom.
After the wind storms of the past couple of days I was really surprised to see them saying "Good Morning".

These shots are from a new flower bed we just installed last fall.
I hope it will do well this year.

As you can see this one did not make it through the wind storms without getting a little "dirty".
I could have cleaned it up, but I wanted the "all natural look".
At least I have a couple of flowers to enjoy this spring. With the recent and ongoing drought, it's a blessing to have anything with a bloom.
Enjoy the day every one.

When it's wrong, is it right?
When you need a second opinion about electrical service in a home by a licensed electrician, you would think the inspection would go as you had planned.
Not in this case.
This home needs an electrical upgrade. It has a Federal pacific panel and breakers.
This home also has several electrical issues as well.

This Federal Pacific panel has seen it's share of issues. Notice the breakers that have already been replaced?
When the electrical inspector was at this home he looked at the electrical panel and deemed it "SAFE", really.

See the knob and tube wiring connected to the breakers?
I did.
Notice the double lugging of the supply connection to the box? Did you notice that the box was installed upside down? The cracked breaker?
I guess I was the only one to notice these problems.
The "other inspector deemed the service and system as safe"
So much for a second opinion.

Ads you will never see again Part two.
These ads are great. Back in the day when these were really popular they generated a lot os sales for the company they were representing.

Looking at this ad, all I could think of is how proud they were of their ads.

Look at the prices. Now these would run you upwards to nearly a thousand dollars.
Can you imagine an ad like this today?
Have a good day everyone.

Ads you will never see again. I just love retro.
here are some retro ads that are awesome. You will never see these ads in print or on the T.V. they would be controversial.
Take a peek and let me know what you think of the form of advertising "BACK IN THE DAY".

One way to stay fit while cleaning the home.

Well maybe not every one. LOL
Have a fun and restful Saturday. I will be busy all day today.
