2009 Welcomes new economic development to Rio Rancho with the breaking ground of the Hewlett-Packard call center in just a few days. Economic growth and development is a welcome addition to the City of Vision. The Hewlett-Packard call center in Rio Rancho plans to employ 1,340. The vision of Rio Rancho is to allow people to live, work and play in the same city. This HP addition will help Rio Ranchoans follow that vision.

The Hewlett-Packard center, Central New Mexico campus & University of New Mexico campus are all moving forward with ground breaking for each of their prospective facilities in the Rio Rancho City Center. Looking into water issues along with Rio Rancho’s infrastructure is also in development. This onward momentum is a benefit for the city and people of Rio Rancho. Rio Rancho City Councilors had a busy night... The Star Center in Rio Rancho will be going under contract with different management. City councilors voted to approve termination of the current management team and are ready to take a look at new proposals from other teams. Officials also approved items assisting Hewlett-Packard with their move to Rio Rancho. Plans are in the works for HP to break ground in January for its new customer support center. Also breaking ground in January, will be the UNM City Center campus which the councilors were able take a peek at during a presentation. More from the Journal... The Spy Next Door is a new movie under production starring Jackie Chan, George Lopez, & Billy Ray Cyrus. Being filmed right here in New Mexico, they are spending many days filming at Pulte Homes Loma Colorado New Homes subdivision in Rio Rancho. We have sold homes in Loma Colorado to several families, so it will be interesting to hear from them their star sighting stories! Rosalie Rayburn from the Rio Rancho Journal put together a summary of Rio Rancho news for the past five years (since the RR Journal started being published). Yes, we have seen our ups and downs but the prospects for the city are great. We are excited about future. No, I don’t have rose colored glasses on… Even with the decline in Rio Rancho home sales (just like everywhere) things look bright. RR is a great place to live with a low cost of living. More Businesses, Schools, and Hospitals will be coming into Rio Rancho over the next five years and will provide the catalyst to move the city forward.

It appears that Hewlett Packard has chosen a temporary site to begin in New Mexico... and although they plan to eventually be near the Rio Rancho City Center, their temporary location will be in Albuquerque at 4411 The 25 Way NE, Albuquerque, NM. This is good news for the HP Employees as there are many great restaurants nearby like Genghis Grill, Twin Peaks, Bostons the Gourmet Pizza, P.F.
