The West Street Market - Making Reno Great

Charlene Hamilton: Real Estate Agent in Reno, NV

The West Street Market will open this weekend in downtown Reno . The West Street Market is part of the Making It Great vision for Reno 's downtown area.

Three 1930 era brick buildings have been renovated and will eventually be home to 13 new businesses. The Grand Opening for the West Street Market is officially scheduled for Saturday (December 6, 2008) although some businesses have already opened their doors and others will open on Wednesday.

The West Street Market will include a stage area that will be referred to as the "road show area". For now, the area will be used to feature the new businesses and exhibits. The City of Reno also plans to book performances for the location in the future.

The West Street Market will also be emphasizing green living with bins for recycling glass, aluminum and cardboard. Sustainable living will be encouraged as the "road show area" will also feature seasonally grown fresh produce. The city is hoping that the road show area will become a farmers market with fresh fruit and produce grown by local farmers sold year round.

HGTV's "My House is Worth What?" Incline Village Nov. 30

Lexi Cerretti: Real Estate Agent in Incline Village, NV

The home of Incline Village couple, Ross and Sarah McMahan, who recently put in a large master addition over their garage, airs this Sunday at noon.

"We are looking for real estate experts who have a strong presence and knowledge of their market," Schwartz said. "They should be confident judging homes and letting homeowners know the expected return on investment. On top of that they have to have good communication skills and lots of energy."

Cerretti said she learned a great deal about the in and outs of television while filming the Incline Village episodes.

"A lot goes into filming," she said. "I had to have all the data in mind as I put on my TV personality; exaggerating gestures and really hitting home the pluses and minuses of each room." Cerretti studied reports on actual remodels done in the Incline area and how they influenced the market value.

The Secret...Beach!

Tracy Saunders: Real Estate Agent in Incline Village, NV

Ingenuity is what happens when you combine kids, imagination and nature. In this computer driven world it is nice to take time out with the family and enjoy the simple things. This Thanksgiving I took time out from selling the amazing place I live - Lake Tahoe - to enjoy why I love living here, the outdoor adventures that can be found any time of the year. We gathered up a few friends and their families and hiked through the forest down to Secret Beach on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It is a pristine place with lots of boulders to climb, rocks to skip and beach to stroll.

Secret Beach Family Photos

It's a place that brings out the kid in all of us. Imagine taking a plank of driftwood, a rock, and a sandy beach what would you have? At Secret Beach you would have a seesaw the old fashioned kind, or perhaps a great plank for taking your family photo (that is if you have a friend with a camera). Fido is more than welcome - just remember to clean up behind both the dog and the kids. We brought a picnic; a football and a little bubbly to celebrate the unseasonably warm weather, and to give thanks that we get to live in this incredible place called Tahoe.

Seesaw at Secret Beach

Want to try Secret Beach ... From Incline Village head out towards Spooner summit on Hwy 28. Go past Sand Harbor and past the Thunderbird Lodge about a mile. You will see a trailhead parking area on your right (it is closed with a gate for the season we parked along the road. Head down through the gate to your left if you are facing the water. You will see trail signs; we cut down at the second trail sign to the beach. The hike down should take about 20 minutes.

Terrie Leighton: Real Estate Agent in Sparks, NV

It was cold, dark and raining but that didn't stop the lighting of the 65-foot-tall giant sequoia during the ceremony that took place Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in downtown Reno. The lighting of the tree kicks off the 2008 holiday season!

Bad weather did prevent the opening of the "Rink on the River" that was scheduled to take place after the tree lighting. With inches of water on the rink it was impossible to skate on.

Luckily, the rain has passed and the Rink is now open! The outdoor ice skating rink is located at 10 N. Virginia Street in downtown Reno. For hours of operation visit www.cityofreno.com or call 775-334-2262. The cost is $6 for ages 13 years and up, $4 for youths and seniors and $2 skate rental.
