Has the Strip become too corporate? Does 2010 mark the return of Downtown Vegas?
Before entering to watch Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman's annual State of the City address, Aaron Auxier and Michael Yomtob ask the question - has the Las Vegas Strip become too corporate? With consumer-friendly properties like the Golden Nugget Rush Tower making people feel wanted, as well as the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute and upcoming Performing Arts Center at Union Park, perhaps downtown's patient agenda will pay off in 2010.
Along with its World Market Center, if downtown can obtain an NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB team and stadium, things could get real interesting. Perhaps properties such as Newport Lofts and Soho Lofts could see their values stabilize? Only time will tell.
