About Mesquite's Santa Fe Vistas

My clients live in Italy and are missing the gorgeous cactus blooms in their front yard - a few months ago, they bought a home in a Mesquite neighborhood with No HOA fees. I stopped by today to take a few pictures of their trees and landscaping - they are probably wondering how their home in Mesquite is doing while they are away. I was delighted to find several cactus blooming. This one will continue to bloom for a week or so - there are quite a few flower buds getting ready to open.

Many of the older neighborhoods in Mesquite NV do not have Home Owner Associations - NO HOA fees. That is one more monthly bill that you do not have to pay for the privilege of homeownership. The bad news is that you either have to pay someone to maintain the outside of your home ..... or do it yourself. There is no Homeowner Association to take care of the yardwork. So get out those gloves!

Some of our beautiful yards in the Santa Fe Vistas neighborhood in Mesquite have lovely palm trees that may grow as high as 30 feet.

The Good News:

Lovely to look at, especially with a light breeze fluffing the fronds (froms?) way up in the sky.

The Bad News:

They need to be trimmed once a year and there is no HOA to take care of that. Did I mention that they may be 30 feet high?

Get out the blue plastic gloves and get ready for a tough job!

Why blue plastic gloves? Actually, they do not have to be blue, but my favorites are the size small stretchy ones that I borrowed from the hospital emergency room. They are blue. They also are sanitized.

The heavy-duty leather gloves just chafe my hands! But the thick leather gloves are required to safely trim trees with a chainsaw and a machete.

I just hate that chafey feeling and it ruins my nails. So before I put the rough heavy-duty leather gloves on, I smother my hands with Vaseline intensive care cream and put the blue stretchies on.

Then I wear the leather safety gloves over the blue stretchies and still feel like a lady - I know that $30 manicure is safe!

With my special glasses and those funny boots with the spikey things sticking out of the soles, up the ladder I go with my chain saw and machete!

There I am swingin' around that palm tree and having a great time chopping and trimming those palm fronds. (froms? whatever)

My husband always cleans up the mess when I am done trimming the palm trees.

He thinks I look so cute in this outfit! He bought me a darling safety hat to protect my fair skin from those disgusting bugs that live up there.

And those spikey boots are great to wear to those big clearance sales at the local department stores...

...those other ladies just step aside when I barge forward to get that last $4 sweater on that sale rack. I wear the gloves, too!

I always enjoy my Palm Tree Trimming Day! And save $$ on HOA fees. :)

OK, OK, OK !!! That really isn't me trimming the palm trees. It was Carlos Deleon - tree trimming specialist in Mesquite NV. I don't even own a machete.

Carlos does full landscaping work as well as maintenance and yard work. He does a great job and never leaves a mess behind. And he doesn't even wear the blue gloves with the lotion. But I would've.

And those are my blue goves under my kitchen sink.

Mesquite NV Neighborhoods with NO Homeowner Association - Help is Available!

Santa Fe Vistas is one of several Mesquite NV neighborhoods with no HOA fees. On the north east side of town and almost to the Arizona border you will find several small subdivisions with no Home Owner Associations.

That's right - no Hoa fees - kind of unusual around here. Most new or newer homes in Clark County have a Home Owners Association of some kind - fees vary from as low as $26 per month up to almost $400 per month and may include some utilities and maintenance of the homes and yard.

The CCRs - Covenants, Codes, and Restrictions included with the property also vary within each subdivision. One might have very few restrictions - another might be very restrictive with rules and regulations that might even include how long you can leave your garage door open.

Being part of a Home Owner Association in Mesquite NV can have advantages. If they take care of the yard, you don't have to - you might only want to live here part time, and you don't have to worry about your home while you are not here. Some HOAs include everything, from water and garbage fees, to structural insurance.

But if you want to paint your home whatever color you like or plant corn, you might want a home in a community without a Home Owner Association.

Yet the neighborhoods are well maintained and the yards look great, partly due to Mesquite city codes which do not allow garbage, junked cars or overgrown yards.

One way to get away from yard work in the hot summers is to use desert landscaping and it is difficult to tell whether a green lawn is growing or faux grass.

Some are so lush and green, you have to reach down and try to pull out some blades to be able to tell if it is real. Look at this beautiful back yard and see what I mean! This yard is actually very low maintenance.

Homes in Santa Fe Vistas usually range from about 1600 to 2200 sq feet and vary in price from approximately $200,000 to $400,000 - one listing with over 4000 sq ft and a pool is about $500,000. Many of these homes have great views of the Canyons Golf Course and of the Arizona mountains.
