Are you preparing to move into a new home? If so, blessing your new home is a great idea! Laura Cerrano Feng Shui expert of Feng Shui LI says, when you have a house blessings you are imprinting your energy onto the new home and are clearing out any predecessor energy left behind. At the same time, a Feng Shui house blessing helps to bring in fresh energy. When combined with a deep cleaning of the new home, you further help to clear out any stagnant and/or negative energy.
You can also bless and cleanse the exterior of your new home. Ms. Cerrano refers to this as Feeding the Hungry Ghost. Yes, it may sound scary...but it's not :) What this exterior house blessing represents is clearing away any negative energy from the land and at the same time giving thanks for allowing you to live there.
A common questions, what is the origin of these blessings that Feng Shui consultants utilize to enhance the energy of the land and home?
These blessings come from the Black Sect, also known as the Black Hat school of Feng Shui. These are transcendental cures passed down by Buddhist believes and practices. If you delve a little further, you'll see these practices over lap with other belief systems as well. Native Americans used to bless the land before settling in. They always gave thanks and kept a great balance with mother nature and themselves. Christianity, the Catholic Church, and in the Jewish tradition, Priest's and Rabbi's are called upon to bless new homes. Certain ornaments are placed throughout the homes and in the land to add signs of protection or scrolls that represent blessings for a new home.
This is nothing new, just another way to approach what we have been doing for centuries. This is how we approach it from a feng Shui perspective :)
