DELHI NY REAL ESTATE GETS NY TIMES ATTENTION - GREAT AREA FOR SECOND-HOME OWNERS AND DELAWARE COUNTY IN UPSTATE NY HAS VINTAGE HOUSES AND VACANT LAND AT AFFORDABLE PRICES.
LONG ISLAND, NYC, AND NJ BUYERS FIND UPSTATE TO BE THE PERFECT GETAWAY
In an article titled "Havens/Delhi, N.Y. Vintage Homes and Postcard Panoramas." C.J.Hughes wrote about the region's second-home owners that have been buying up vintage houses and renovating them.
Hughes interviewed several people from Manhattan who have purchased homes in Delaware County during the last few years.
Delhi has two wine stores, the Steinway Book Company bookstore, and a sushi restaurant. The Quarter Moon Cafe were also noted. SUNY Delhi's campus and the 50 acre SUNY Delhi Outdoor Education Center also earned kudos, particularly the latter's paths by the Little Delaware River.
Mary Beth Silano, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce executive director, said she was surprised to hear about the article. "I am glad to see Delhi get this kind of recognition," Silano said.
It's amazing and it shows that the real-estate market is still hot here.
The article may be viewed online at www.nytimes.com/2009/02/06/greathomesanddestinations/06havens.html
Our phone was very busy after the article was published, CAROL OLSEN a Realtor for CENTURY 21/Chesser Realty noted.

Now, as fall sets in, get ready for the mid-September to October fall spectacular! Drive the Catskills for the breathtaking beauty of the fall foliage! Join the Sanctuary Open House at the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society on October 4th in Franklin. Hawk-watching is underway and several bald eagles have been spotted in the area. Stop by the many farmers markets for organic produce, crafts, hand-made pottery and furniture.
Looking for recreational activities? Belleayre Mountain in Highmount has beachfronts, camping, boating, biking trails, skyrides and a well known ski resort. Ski Plattekill, another well known ski resort, has over 6 miles of mountain biking trails and hosts USA Cycling mountain bike races and camps as well as skiing, snowboarding and tubing.
