Hidden away in the Southern end of Ulster County, in the Town of Wawarsing, is the Village of Ellenville, surrounded with stunning views of the Shawangunk Ridge. Small in population but large in scenery and natures beauty, this community was established before the Revolutionary War, but really became well established in the late 1700’s. This is an area that is rich in history and was situated along one of the first roads in America. The “Old Mine Road,” which ran from New Jersey to Kingston, New York, which passed through Ellenville. Also, the D&H Canal ran through the Village, making the community a thriving commercial center.
The area has much to offer residents and visitors: Recreation, cultural events, national and local history, and above all, small town hospitality. From hang gliding to hiking, horseback riding, golfing and trout fishing, there is much to choose from in the immediate area.
The area in more modern time’s, was once known for the number of resorts and hotels that dotted the landscape. Although these businesses have for the most part succumbed to the economic reality of the time, the Village has been making a comeback as a place for weekenders looking for homes in close proximity to the New York Metropolitan area. If a sense of community is high on your list of things to look for when searching for that perfect location for a house, consider the Village of Ellenville, it will continue to provide for those that seek it’s beauty.
Whether looking for a new home, a second home, weekender, country retreat..... start your search for Ulster County Real Estate here!

Fall looks like it is going to be spectacular this year in the Greater Hudson Valley. We took a ride on Saturday and took some photos from an overlook on Route 52 heading over the mountain from Pine Bush to Ellenville. You can just start to see the colors coming out.

If you have never taken New York State Route 52 up this way before I suggest you add a drive up this road on a future visit to the area. There are a couple of these scenic overlooks where you can park and take in the views. You can see for miles in either direction and the valley and mountain vistas are extrodinary. During warm weather you will often see hang gliders sailing past you as they take off from a cliff just above.

Well I hope you will put a visit to our area on your list of things to do this fall. We have many great things here to see and do. If you are considering looking for a year round or vacation home in the area please give me a call, a text, or send me an email. I am ready to help you find the perfect place for you.
