It appears my miniature photographs at this link were not what a few of you were expecting. Here's a more detailed shot. Can you see it now? (LOL) Just teasing. :-)
I keep thinking I should do a small coffee book on this. I have a lot of nice photographs of Shea Stadium. Okay, maybe a couple of hundred (LOL). It's bittersweet to see this coming apart tier by tier and I've certainly spoken a lot on the subject at hand. I feel as if I am losing a good friend. I know it is just a building, but that's the way that I feel. I hope I get to make some nice memories at Citi Field, but the fact of the matter is it will never house the history or displace my childhood memories of Shea...
Time to embrace the change... It may take a few weeks. I'm in mourning over my favorite stadium.

I'm a bit distracted today because my clients are such interesting and downright fascinating people. I've never had a buyer sign a contract with a mortgage in place, then kick the mortgage to the curb to get a new one weeks before closing. Makes me nervous... I'm sure I'll get over it. I tend to get over a lot of things especially if I have no choice in the matter (LOL).
I think if I could improve my interest rate I might gamble and go for it too... but what do I know... after all, this is new... I've no idea if doing this is a good or bad idea. I guess it depends upon the circumstances. What say you?
BTW, the Minion Blur has a little girlfriend. Oooo - how very sweet... she's a pretty cute kid, a bit high pitched and wordy too. He actually dances for her since he's speech delayed and seems determined to share everything. What a handsome little flirt he's turning out to be. I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can film the extended version of this candy cane courtship and save it for the electronic-embarrassment-scrapbook to use during his teenage years. You know your almost three year olds with the short attention spans are "somewhat serious" when they actually trade the candy back and forth out of their mouths without fighting for a turn or the whole piece.
Eeeeeew. Toddler affection can make you go "hmm" when you're not screaming, "OMG - quit it!" (LOL). Hey, don't get mad at me. You know you want leverage over you kids when they get older. Seriously! I bet your parents have embarrassing photo album pictures of you. Mine certainly do (LMAO).
Who knew scrapbooks would go all live and digital on us? How very cool and extremely useful. :-)
Took the little buggers to my fave spot to watch the demolition of Shea Stadium again. It is disappearing at an alarming rate. I know that one day soon it will be completely gone, so I try to visit as often as possible to keep up on their progress. I keep wondering what my last eye candy shot will be and if I will be there for the final walk through and watch when it will be no more... I am going to really miss this place. I wonder if I will have the nerve to watch when that last wall falls...

Play nice in the electronic sand box and stop tagging me for Memes. I think I share an awful lot, don't you? Can you give a blogger a break? I'd like to make it to the end of the month at least. Seriously. :-)

Due to various reasons, I usually go to New York City very often. I always enjoy visiting the Chinatown in Flushing (Queens Borough). This picture was taken recently while I was driving. (I know I am over confident by my driving skill. I will try to avoid it.)
There are a few big super market there where you can actually buy some authentic green tea although do not expect good quality as you can easily tell from the price they charge.
Another good thing about Chinatown in Flushing is that if you need to Manhattan, it is a great idea to park in Flushing and take the subway to Manhattan. The subway will go directly to time square which is the center of Manhattan.

The Outside Blog Minion Report: Shea Stadium / Citi Field
44 years... I am 43 years old and all I can think about is the fact that for my entire life Shea Stadium was a place of fond memories and spectacular moments.
My family loves baseball. Did you know that I was listening to soap operas and ballgames in the womb? Yup. 'Tis true. Oh my word, the interesting things I could tell you about my childhood influences (LMAO - but I digress...). I shall save that for a Susan Mangigian Wordy C moment. After all, I do have a 57 Fact Mega-Meme in the works... among other things. ;-)
I will say that they didn't call me "Mouth" for nothing. Who knew I'd grow up to be a blogger. Betcha' didn't see that one coming, eh? I surely didn't... :-)
Rumor has it I have a gift for gab, but I must confess I was oddly speechless while on my way into the office. I have been driving past Shea Stadium twice a day for over 15 years and I must say it is becoming more difficult for me to do so as construction debris is taken away. Watching them dismantle one of my favorite places caused a mysterious, melancholy lump of emotion to swell up and choke the inside of my throat. I was going to be late for my appointment but I had to get a brief visit in. I did not want them to tear it down completely, although I know this is a necessary part of economic progress and change. It made my heart hurt and I couldn't shake the feeling I was about to cry. I really wanted to cry, but I didn't and that fact distracted me for the rest of the day. It made me wonder what was wrong with me... I felt like an old friend was dying a slow death... Who knew you could feel that way about a recreational building?
I am going to really miss this place. My 7 and 2.10 year old will never know the thrill of sitting on those orange seats with their best friends, gobbling down expensive hot dogs while enjoying the atmosphere of sharing a landmark that dates back to the World's Fair. There is always the hint of the intangible, a secret thrill from watching one of America's favorite past-times take place on historical grounds. I was barely 4 when the Amazing Mets won the World Series Championship in 1969. All of that hollering and screaming while jumping up and down made quite an impression on me.
I am a very visual person (LOL). Artistic or Autistic? Hmm... You decide. I was out of High School when they did it again in 1986. Funny what you remember when your heart decides to mark a significant moment in time.
May God bless the new venture, may it bring new jobs and prosperity to the neighborhoods and I hope that Citi Field is worth the destruction of a treasured landmark. Once upon a time Shea Stadium was the place to be... Now I am looking forward to taking my little minions to Citi Field for their first ball game. :-)
