Brick Housefor the good old days

Speechless Sunday| How I long for the good old days

For years I have passed this Hudson NY old brick house, I knew it was old by the type of brick as well as the old tin roof. I suspect in the good old days it was probably th residence of someone with a bit of money. Okay I don't know the real story I just made that up :)

What I do know is that it was there before the cement factory. To the left of the house is an overpass which went directly to the cement factory, however, once the factory came about the old brick house no longer serviced the purpose of a residence.

This home certainly long for the good old days.

Traffic Stop

This was a unique traffic stop I encountered on the grounds of Olana. This is a well know historic site and since you get around mostly by walking this wooden structure was put in place to deter any motorist from driving through.

I really like the way natural wood is utilized in this park - very noticeable in the fences and benches.

Scene at Olana

When friends come to visit it gives a good excuse for taking time to enjoy the view. Life can get busy and we sometimes don't get the time to truly appreciate the area in which we live. Taking the time to do so keeps me excited about the area and helps me to convey the many highlights of the Hudson Valley to those who may be thinking of relocating. This view from Olana never gets old, and is a great spot to bring guests that come to visit.

This past Monday night I had to grap something to eat in Hudaon after spending the day at Columbia Memorial Hospital. I was with two of my daughters, future son-in-law, and wife. Some one sugguested the new American Bar-B-Que Restaurant on Warren Street in the Third Street block, so we went. The former firehouse has been completley done over and is beautiful. Two floors with a lot of brick. Someone knows more about the future of Hudson than I do. The drinks were very cool. At the bar the beer on tap were enclosed with cubes of frost and ice, very cool and so metro. Part of the dining was on the sidewalk and the place had an open air feeling, so Parisian. Upstairs there was more space and pool table, great for a party., so men's club. The burgers very great, the pulled pork was piled high with cole slaw, the buns were very fresh. The waitress was cute, fun and knew the menu. The only part that was a dissapointment was the dessert, The pie seemed store bought, but the ice cream was good. So for a Monday night I got to spend time with my family, visited a new venue and had a great time. Don't be hesitant to drop by, it was a great expeerience. Hudson, who knew years ago when who did'nt go farther down Warren than Rocky's for good food.

Speechless Sunday - Do you know the way to Greene County NY?

Rip Van Winkle Bridge

On Wednesday I posted pictures of Olana. This shot was taken at Olana looking down at the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

The Rip Van Winkle Bridge connects Columbia County NY with Greene County NY. The Rip Van Winkle crosses the Hudson River.

An upcoming post is related to both Olana and Rip Van Winkle so stay tune.
