About Long Beach's Canals

The Long Beach, NY Real Estate Canals are a wonderful part of the City of Long Beach. The Canals are geographically located North of Park Avenue and extend to Reynolds Channel. The Canals begin with Forrester Street and extend to Curley Street. There are 14 blocks that make up The Canals and there are four canals that stretch from Reynolds Channel down to E Pine St.

The Canals are primarily a very quiet area of town, which is very family oriented. There are many well priced homes that are not waterfront but there are some spectacular custom homes located on the open bay. The typical lot sizes in The Canals are smaller than some of the surrounding areas that result in a friendly atmosphere and a neighborhood where residents and families spend as much time in front of their homes as in their backyards.

The Canals are a perfect combination of being a short walk to the beach but also being North of Park Ave, the homes are not subject to the parking hassles that exist beachside. There is also plenty of shopping on Park Ave. There is Associated Supermarket, The Bungalow for all day casual dining, Lido Deli, Kings Pharmacy, Geri's Restaurant among other convenient stores, such as a dry cleaner, and hair salon. All of these are a quick walk or bike ride from any home located in The Canals.

East School located on Neptune Boulevard is a very important part of The Canals. Anytime of the day, residents can be found at the playground of East School. Mothers with their young children can be found on the playground swings, while the basketball ball and baseball fields are continuously filled with small children, teens playing pick up games. The gymnasium is also used at night for adult basketball and other events.
