This neighborhood’s boundaries consist of the Hudson River to the west, Morton Street on the north, Avenue of The Americas (6th Avenue) on the east and Canal Street to the south. Hudson Square is also known as West Soho. This neighborhood is unique in that 40% of the land and buildings are owned by one company, Trinity Real Estate. Trinity Real Estate is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trinity Church. Historic Trinity Church was founded in 1697 and has always been one of New York City’s largest landlords and will continue to be a leader in developing downtown Manhattan. The area of Hudson Square was once home to the publishers and printers of yesteryear and thought of as the printing capital of Manhattan.

With changes in technology the neighborhood has transformed itself into a home for many of the creative and media arts industries, including graphic arts firms, software developers and video and film makers. Some big name companies make their home here, among them are, MTV Networks, New York Magazine, Viacom and CBS. A few highlights of Hudson Square include the Trapeze School of New York, the Jackie Robinson Museum, the Children’s Museum of Art and the New York City Fire Museum, just to name a few. Hudson Square is also where the entrance to the Holland Tunnel is located. The neighborhood is home to such eateries as Soho Made Soups, Turks and Frogs, the Aquagrill and Pao! a traditional Portuguese restaurant.
