85th ANNUAL FEAST OF SAN GENNARO on SEPTEMBER 15-25, 2011. This is an annual celebration of faith, the Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere, an 11-day event with religious processions and festive parades, music through out the feast, a variety of ethnic food, tasty Italian restaurants & Roman cafes and Italian sweets and cannolis.

Some History:

"The beloved Feast of San Gennaro is an annual celebration of the Patron Saint of Naples. The first Feast in New York City took place on September 19, 1926 when newly arrived immigrants from Naples settled along Mulberry Street in the Little Italy section of New York City and decided to continue the tradition they had followed in Italy to celebrate the day in 305 A.D. when Saint Gennaro was martyred for the faith

Since then, the Feast has grown from a one-day street festival to a gala 11-day event. On September 19 during each Feast, a Religious Procession, including the Statue of San Gennaro, winds along the length of Mulberry and Mott Streets, between Canal and Houston Streets. The procession begins immediately following a Celebratory Mass held at the Most Precious Blood Church on Mulberry Street, the National Shrine of San Gennaro."

In addition, there are more than 200 street vendors who set up shop along the Festival Streets selling a wide variety of goods. The Feast also has a number of arcade games as well as many fun activities for the younger members of the family, including carnival rides.

NYC: Myths About Homeownership

Eileen Hsu 許小姐 Manhattan NY Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in Manhattan, NY

Manhattan NYC: Myths About Homeownership How lenders assess mortgage applications has changed a lot in the last 20 years. What closed the door to homeownership then may not be a factor today.

The following are some commonManhattan NYC Propertyownership myths:

Myth: You need great credit to become a Property owner in Manhattan NYC.
Fact: You may still be able to buy a property and you have less-than-perfect credit. And remember, you can improve your credit over time. But if you are buying a property and you have less-than-perfect credit, talk to a housing counselor who can help you avoid a mortgage you can't afford. It is important to comparison shop. Be wary of a lender who tells you, "Your less-than-perfect credit means that no one but me will work with you to find you a loan."

Myth: You can't buy a property in the Manhattan New York if you're not a citizen.
Fact: If you're a permanent or non-permanent resident alien, you can purchase a property in Manhattan New York.

Myth: If you don't have a bank account or credit cards, you can't qualify for a mortgage.
Fact: Having a bank account is always a good idea and helps you establish credit. However, lenders can approve you for a mortgage even if you don't have a bank account or credit cards. You'll likely need to keep records showing a history (Usually 2 years or so) of payments you've made for items such as rent, utilities, and car payments.

Myth: Manhattan New NYC Lenders share your personal financial information with other companies.
Fact: By law, banks and other financial institutions are restricted in their uses and disclosures of information about you. In some situations, you may choose to restrict the disclosure of your information if you don't want it to be shared. If you are unsure how your information will be used, don't be afraid to ask - it's your right to know.

Myth: If you're late on your monthly mortgage payments, you'll lose your property.
Fact: If you have a financial hardship, like the death of your spouse or a medical emergency, and fall behind, it's possible to keep your home and get back on track if you contact your lender early. Even if it is not possible to keep your home, you can sell your home and possibly buy a less expensive one rather than face foreclosure.

Myth: You can't get a mortgage if you've changed jobs several times in the last few years.
Fact: Not true. You can change jobs several times and still get a loan to buy a home. Lenders understand that people change jobs. The important thing is to show that you've had a stable income.

Grotta Azzurra

177 Mulberry Street

NY NY

Times are tough, especially in the restaurant business. Saturday night in Little Italy and there were many empty tables. Grotta Azzurra was doing only slightly better than some other restaurants on Mulberry Street. And the reason is SERVICE.

The most frustrating thing is to try to contact your waiter when the restaurant is empty and your waiter is talking to other waiters, but not at Grotta Azzurra. Our waiter was attentive and when he didn't know the answer, he got back to us immediately. The plates came out on time and in good order and in a romantic restaurant that is important.

The décor of Grotta Azzurra is simple and classic, dark wood and white tiles, you are immediately transported a classic Italian restaurant, large displays of famous Italian sculptures dominate the dining room.

The menu is large at Grotta Azzurra and the portions are even larger. The Calamari was tender and not greasy, the salad had plenty of Radicchio, and the Filletto di Pompadori, homemade parpadelle with tomato sauce, cheese, pancetta and onions was immense and superb.

Grilled Vegetables were nicely done and the Shrimp Oreganata was just so. Alas, the Veal in my Saltimbocca was tough; the sauce was the same as the di Pompadori and while good this is a big no, no.

The decaf cappuccino and the decaf espresso to die for. Dessert was a blueberry cake with real blueberries and ice cream, Yum!

New York City-Manhattan---A Feng Shui Consultant's Day....

The San Gennaro Feast in Manhattan is something I NEVER miss. I know some people LOVE New York City....and others are not so fond of it! The San Gennaro Feast runs every year and is the oldest, largest and best known Italian Feast. St. San Gennaro is the patron Saint of Naples and people come from all over the world each year to attend this festival. Feast of San Gennaro

1.5 million attended this year. Laura Cerrano and I accounted for two of those : ) If you can't stand crowds, noise or unpredictable weather, this is not something you would enjoy. In fact I was dismayed to hear from one of my AR friends that last years post-when not a DROP of rain was predicted but we had a heavy and unrelenting downpour is the way I will be remembered....OUCH!

That post was SUPPOSED to show Determination and Creativity from Feng Shui Consultants in New York who have learned to "Go With the Flow." I guess not. You need Persistance AND Creativity in New York City But if you love fairs, you'll adore this one! This year we have a balmy 89 degrees and it STILL did not stop the crowds.
