Mobile Office 101
When you blog on the run like I do, it pays to have a mobile office that's compact and versatile. It doesn't matter if you are into Windows or Mac. What matters is that your equipment does what you want it to do when you need it to do it.

It warmed up today (and actually rained) so the diffused lighting made my photo-shoot at the South Street Sea Port an interesting challenge. Working with a Nikon and Toshiba laptop I was able to capture and process my digital images on the fly in order to make snap decisions regarding the subject matter of my next gallery show.
I started sketching this view an hour ago. When I get back home I'm going to block it out on a canvass and start painting it for the wee people. I plan on turning it into a limited edition art poster when I am done. Inna Hardison of HA Media Group will be the print vendor on this project.
I'm looking forward to working with her firm. It's an excellent company and if you haven't subscribed to Inna's blog you may want to check it out here.
On my way into the studio to continue working on our next album. The best part about having a mobile office is the fact that I can set up and break down my gear just about anywhere. I can switch between chasing the Little Minions, Writing, Illustration, Photography, Video, Film, Music and Real Estate with the click of a mouse.
I can also lurk on your blogs and play in social media during break time (LOL). ;-)

What a great way to get away from looking at New York apartments for a little while, and be reminded that New York City is amazing! I joined a group of friends this week for a two hour sunset sailing cruise that traveled from Pier 17 at South Street Seaport, around the Statue of Liberty, and back. Unlike the big Circle Line cruises, our trip was aboard the Clipper City, a 158 foot schooner built from the plans of the original 1854 ship that was built in Wisconsin. The original ship was decommissioned in 1890, but in 1984 naval architects rebuilt her, with modifications to meet modern safety regulations. The plans are in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian. She carries six fore-and-aft rigged sails, and two square topsails on two steel masts. Oh, it also has a full cash bar.
It was a beautiful night, albeit a little cool; with a good, stiff headwind. The sky was crystal clear, and the lights of the city were truly awe inspiring. The size and scope of New York can be best appreciated when you take a step back, and see it from this perspective.
This week is UN Week, and dignitaries are to be found wherever you go. Our cruise was no exception, as it was complete with two gentlemen in blazers who had those little Secret Service clear earpieces, and sat on either side of some folks who were not dressed for a sailing adventure. However you're dressed, and where ever you're from, it's a great way to spend a couple of hours.
