The beginning of 2012 makes this a great time to review home sales in Monroe NY for the past year. The following results are for the town and village of Monroe, NY.
During 2011, sales of single family homes and condos/townhomes sold at an average of 12 per month with the spring and late fall having the largest results. At the same time, new inventory was added at an average of about 11 per month (with a big spike in June) so it is no surprise that the inventory in the town and village of Monroe remains relatively constant. As of this writing, there are 151 single family homes, condos and townhomes available in Monroe.
Another set of statistics that are worth reviewing are the prices the market is paying for single family homes in Monroe NY (this data does not include condos and townhomes).
Prices ranged from a low of $82,500 to a high of $735,000, but the average price paid for a single family home in Monroe during 2011 was approximately $335K. This compares to a 2010 average price of $354K.

In late August 2010, Hurricane Irene smashed through the New York area, dumping over 10 inches of rain. The foot or so of rain hit our roof drop by drop by drop throughout the storm. Eventually we noticed a consistent sound through the gale force winds. It went something like this.
Drip Drip Drip
Yes, that's right, we had leaks in the ceiling/roof. An inspection after the storm revealed we needed a roof replacement, so we asked around for referrals, obtained estimates, and made our selection.
I'm here to tell you that if you have roofing needs in Monroe, NY, you should definitely contact Douglas-Alexander Construction.
We contacted Jeff Cline (845-978-9839). He immediately responded to our call, and we set up an appointment to have him inspect the roof and provide an estimate. He arrived at the appointed hour, checked out the roof, and provided an estimate and a sample of various roofing choices.
After we had received all the estimates we expected from various vendors, we selected Jeff because of his responsiveness, thoroughness and competitive estimate.
We're glad we did.
Jeff and his crew arrived the day before work was about to start, and they delivered all the shingles and supplies to the roof.
They then arrived at the appointed hour on the starting day, and got right to work. They not only arrived every day on time as promised, they worked all day, cleaned up all evidence of their work at the day's end, and came back the next day on schedule to start all over again.
Not only that, the entire crew was incredibly pleasant. In my book, being both efficient and pleasant is a huge benefit.
The job only took a few days, the property was left as clean as it was when they arrived and the roof looked great.
And most importantly, we have lived through several subsequent large storms, and the house remains silent. No drips. No problems. No loose shingles. No issues of any kind with any of the materials or work that Jeff and his team provided.
So call Jeff at 845-978-9839 if you have any roofing needs in the Monroe, NY area.
You won't be disappointed!

A friend and I attended Christmas in the Village at Museum Village in Monroe NY this weekend. This is their first year of being open all year long. We heard carolers, saw a Punch and Judy puppet show, saw candle making and more. Museum Village is truly a great place to take the kids!
They now have classes and different workshops, events to attend on the different holidays and areas you may rent for events. They have catalogued thousands and thousands of artifacts which are now on display. You may purchase a membership to Museum Village for as little as $40 per year.

The "Seniors for Holiday Wishes" program is in desperate need of assistance and is in danger of not being able to provide help to needy local families this holiday season. The Seniors program has been providing gifts to needy children in the Washingtonville School District for many years. Under the leadership of Stella Bianco, this program grew through the years to providing gifts to over 100 local families and over 200 children. Generous donations by local residents and businesses over the years have made this a
very successful program affording needy children an opportunity to enjoy Christmas that they may otherwise have not received.
This year the August flood destroyed all of the gifts that were left over from last year. Donations of unwrapped gifts to the program thus far, have been sparse and to date, the appeal to "adopt a family" has drawn no takers. A penny Social was held on November 18th which brought in approximately $1,100 but that is nowhere near the amount of money they need to go shopping for the bulk of the gifts as they do each year.
Unfortunately, time is not on their side as Christmas is just around the corner. If anyone would like to make a donation of goods or money, let them know at the Blooming Grove/Washingtonville Chamber (845-496-5449) and they will see that it finds it way to the proper place and please pass this request on to anyone you can and lets try to keep this program on its feet.
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!
Donations or gifts may also be dropped off at:
