Paddy Pizappi PineBush & Hudson Valley NY Real Estate : Real Estate Agent in Pine Bush, NY

I am back from another Civil War Weekend and of course that means pictures (or eye candy as my friend Carolyn says). This time the event was at Museum Village in Monroe NY. the Monroe event is held in a village of old houses and businesses. There are many spectator events and opportunities to see not only a reenactment but various old time businesses such as blacksmithing, broom making, candle making etc. The following are some of the sights of the weekend for you to enjoy.

Dress Parade

Each Morning Began with a Dress Parade

Harriet Tubman visited our troops to cheer them on. This was an awesome impression.

Drunk on duty if you do the crime...

A few of the soldiers got "drunk" on guard duty and had to pay for their mistakes.

Cannon mortor

Some of the artillery at close range.

General Grant

General Grant at the Union line.

Confederate line

The Confederates defend their position.

Battle

During the battle on Saturday.

tintypes

A photographer was on hand producing tintypes. It was an interesting process to watch.

Dance Dance 2

Saturday night they held a dance where they had instructions on the period dances.

For pictures from another event and an explanation of why we honor the memory of this period in history click here and here. We will be reenacting one more time this season at the Farmer's and Brick House Museums in Montgomery NY on Sept 20 and 21. As you can see there is always something new and different to see at a reenactment. I hope you enjoyed seeing this one.

Travel Back in Time This Labor Day Weekend - Come to Monroe NY to See a Civil War Reenactment Event

Paddy Pizappi PineBush & Hudson Valley NY Real Estate : Real Estate Agent in Pine Bush, NY
<
There has been a lot of interest from my readers about the Civil War Re-enacting my family does.  Many of you saw the blogs I did on the weekend even at Walnut Mountain.
Visit them Here and Here.  If you are looking for something to do Labor Day Weekend and you are in
or near the Greater Hudson Valley of New York
I would love to invite you to a re-enactment to see an event for yourselves.

Our unit the 56th NY State Volunteer Infantry is participating in a weekend event at
The Museum Village in Monroe NY
(Monroe NY is an easy ride from Northern NJ and NYC just past the Harriman Commons Outlets)
The event will be open for spectators on Saturday from 10 AM - 5 PM and
Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM.
Reduced rate tickets are available on line through August 28th So get them soon!

You will be able to view Union and Confederate encampments, see a mock battle, shop at the sutlers, see some farm animals, view a special quilt exhibit, and learn about life during this volatile time in United States history.   There will be special demonstrations all weekend long.

The unit that my family re-enacts with is a family unit.  This means that we modify history a bit by allowing families to camp with the troops.  While some families may have followed the troops; they would not have been able to stay on the same street (camp row) as the troops. However we can show you what might have been going on with the wives and children left behind by the war.

I hope to see some of my readers there this weekend.  If you come just ask anyone in the Union Camp where the NY 56th is camped and stop by to say hello.  Have a great weekend whatever you do and hope it does not rain!!!
