I am back from another Civil War Weekend and of course that means pictures (or eye candy as my friend Carolyn says). This time the event was at Museum Village in Monroe NY. the Monroe event is held in a village of old houses and businesses. There are many spectator events and opportunities to see not only a reenactment but various old time businesses such as blacksmithing, broom making, candle making etc. The following are some of the sights of the weekend for you to enjoy.

Each Morning Began with a Dress Parade
Harriet Tubman visited our troops to cheer them on. This was an awesome impression.
A few of the soldiers got "drunk" on guard duty and had to pay for their mistakes.
Some of the artillery at close range.

General Grant at the Union line.

The Confederates defend their position.

During the battle on Saturday.

A photographer was on hand producing tintypes. It was an interesting process to watch.
Saturday night they held a dance where they had instructions on the period dances.
For pictures from another event and an explanation of why we honor the memory of this period in history click here and here. We will be reenacting one more time this season at the Farmer's and Brick House Museums in Montgomery NY on Sept 20 and 21. As you can see there is always something new and different to see at a reenactment. I hope you enjoyed seeing this one.
