The Ghost Army exhibit - Thru October 16, 12 – 4 PM Wednesdays - Sunday, New City, NY

The Ghost Army exhibit is open at the Historical Society of Rockland. Two Rockland County veterans reveal the secret story of how artists used deception & ingenuity to help win World War II. In 1944, an army unit loaded with art students, actors, and sound technicians were sent to Europe with rubber tanks, phony artillery, a cache of sound effects and their sketchbooks. Their mission was to deceive the enemy. While impersonating many different army units, they also painted and sketched their way across war-torn Europe. The K-9 Patrol Family Program - New City, NY

Here's an interesting family program being sponsored by the New City Library. Did you ever wonder how the k-9 population is trained and what their function is in assisting in an investigation? Well this Wednesday, June 29, 2011 you can get a chance to meet a representative of Rockland County's Sheriff's Office and his k-9 companion and see a demonstration of the dog's skills.

The Rockland County Sheriff's office relies on the dogs to assist them in arson investigations and bomb and explosive detection. You'll get the lowdown on just what the dogs are trained to do and you'll get to see them actually do it.

It should be an interesting evening!!

The program is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM at the New City Library located at 220 N. Main St in New City, NY 10956.
