The cycling event Gran Fondo New York, which will be taking place once again on May 20, 2012 It is the second edition of this event. www.granfondony.com
The organizers are currently recruiting volunteers for the event: http://gfnyvolunteer.eventbrite.com/
Like last year, Gran Fondo has an aid station right in Piermont, and we're also looking for directional volunteers along the route in Piermont/Alpine/Orangetown/Nyack/Congers.
I'm wondering if you could help me with getting the word out about volunteering at Gran Fondo 2012. Volunteers get an event t-shirt, musette bag and noisemakers. There will be 6,000 cyclists from all around the world coming to take on the 100-mile course from NYC to Bear Mountain and back.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact
Lidia / info@granfondony.com and tell her Vanessa from Bunburys sent you!

Ever heard of the village of Piermont? If not you should check it out sometime. It's a charming village just south of the Tappan Zee bridge about 15 minutes north of the George Washington Bridge, nestled at the bottom of the Palisades alongside the mighty Hudson river. There's lots to do here, plenty of restaurants including Peter Kelly's Restaurant X, a charming Italian bistro, Portofino and many more to choose from. The famous hang out of Lance Armstrong, Bill Murray, Al Pacino and many more is cosy coffee shop Bunburys, whose homebaked muffins have become legendary to cyclists on the east coast that now call the 9W challenging ride from Manhattan the Muffin Run!
Walk through Tallman State Park along the cliffs of the Palisades or the mile long pier that stretches out into the middle of the Hudson, ideal for a stroll, fishing or just people watching, (look carefully, there's usually a few famous faces to be seen.)
Coming up soon during the month of lovers the village retailers are holding a special weekend of Valentine Gift specials where you are sure to find something for that someone special in your life. Come and visit you'll be sure to enjoy your visit.
