The picturesque and serene Hamlet of Pocantico Hills is part of the Town of Mount Pleasant which includes also the villages of Sleepy Hollow and Pleasantville, as well as the hamlets of Hawthorne, Valhalla and Thornwood. Pocantico Hills is actually a product of the Rockefeller clan's desire to shape and give the surroundings of their Family Estate Kykuit a New England feel. Almost all of the 40 or so homes have been moved from their original locations within the Rockefeller compound to their present day lots, some time during the late 1800's. The Union Church of Pocantico Hills, the neighboring Catholic Church of the Magdalene, the Pocantico Hills School, the Firehouse, the Stone Barns Agricultural Center featuring also the Blue Hill Restaurant & Cafe, and the Hamlet Green were all planned as well and are still supported or taken care of to some extent by Rockefeller family members and their various foundations.

Housing
The beautiful and charming Pocantico Hills hamlet is home to a little more than 40 homes of different styles and sizes which range in price from the mid 600,000's to multi-million-dollar estates. Many of these vintage homes offer interesting features and unique construction. There are of course also some newer homes which blend nively into the overall New England look and feel of the hamlet. Most homes overlook either the forever Hamlet Green or various parts of the sprawling Rockefeller Preserve and State Park and convey the impression of being in the middle of an idylic countryside.
