There will be over 200 local business vendor booths - all local businesses - virtually every category - restaurants, caterers, local painters/contractors, financial advisors, mortgage brokers, insurance agencies, telecommunications, radio stations, promotional items, marketing agencies, tons of businesses.

There is also a whole Green aisle.

And, there are hunrdeds o local businesses there to network with other business. It is such a happening place, and every year I go, I reconnect with business contact, friends and I meet more people...and they introduce me to others.

This is the 10th annual event and every year it's bigger and better!

During these difficult times it is nice to know that there are community centers to fill in the many gaps that our communities are finding in their safety nets. The Carver Center is on such center.

The Carver Center has its roots back to World War II. It was started as a storefront after school program for the children of parents who were working in wartime defense industries. Over the years the Carver Center grew to be a small food pantry and a child care program until today it serves thousands. The Carver Center depends heavily on individual contributions from the community.

Right now the Carver Center is gearing up for its summer session for children. The program will serve 130 children for six weeks during the summer. The program includes

• Academic skills maintenance and building
• Enrichment programs including dance, photography and art
• Recreational activities such as swimming, cheerleading and basket ball.
• Field trips to parks and museums.
• Daily breakfrast, lunch and a snack.

Port Chester, NY has Great New Restaurants

Port Chester is really being put on the map as far as restaurants goes. You may have heard of celebrity chef Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich opening up Tarry Lodge in the Fall of 2008. If you have not been there yet, I suggest going. I love a good thin crust pizza and the Goat Cheese with Pistachios and Truffle Honey Pizza was delicious. Tarry Lodge's menu will be a welcome change from the tired Italian restaurants who serve "chicken parm" and other Americanized Italian food. "Secondi" or main dishes range from $19-29.

Tarry Market and Tarry Wine have opened up around the corner. You can buy authentic European meats, cheeses, pastas and wine. There are a few tables in front of the espresso bar that are good for people watching on Main Street.

If you are looking for dining with a different mood, try Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar. This mexican restaurant has a kind of goth dungeon-like (in a good way) atmosphere with the dark lights and red velvet curtains. Although it's technically not in Port Chester. It is just down the road from Tarry Lodge on Mill Street in the Byram section of Greenwich, CT. The waiter brought over a "smoking" grapefruit granita with a splash of tequila which was nice and refreshing. Then came chips along with 3 salsas. The main courses were delicious. Try the carne asada. Along with the check came a huge green-apple cotton candy- very fun. I am not a tequila connoisseur, but they have many different ones to choose from.

For Mexican with a "beachy" touch, try Bartaco. It is kind of hard to find, down the road from The Willet House at the end of the parking lot. It sits right on the Byram River and has a patio outside for alfresco dining or drinks. I found the portions to be rather small, but the atmosphere makes up for it.
